Whatever happened to modesty in public?

I'm no prude, but please, do we need to see so much skin in public? Wearing a bathing suit doesn't mean you have to be practically naked, yuck.

Loincloth, cl** hammock, front thong, v-floss.

Whatever you call it, the high-cut swimsuit has made its summer return, with celebrities like Khloé and Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Emily Ratajkowski taking the plunge ahead of National Bikini Day on July 5.

Thanks for the picture! Oh, how do you become an "expert" in high cut bikinis? Is there a school for that?

That's an extreme version and I have never seen anybody other than a celeb or model wear that. High-cut bottoms are back, but they come in many versions.

and no, not every cut/style will look good on every body type. That's common sense.

"Experts raise concerns ..." hahahahahahaha

I guess those experts weren't around in the late 80s when people were hiking bikini bottoms up.

Yep, there are TONS of looks that "aren't for everyone." Crop tops ... palazzo pants, rompers. Take your pick!

Some people just aren't very honest when looking in the mirror, or they didn't have a mom like mine who had no problem saying, "Those shorts are not doing anything for you."

Bathing suits used to be high-cut in the early 90's. I think it was a carry-over of the exercise leotards that were very high cut and just a thong in back, which we wore with bike shorts underneath. The high cut legs were supposed to make your legs look longer.

The link in the article to the "flattering swimsuit" on Amazon looks just like what we thought of as a normal swimsuit in the 90's, not too high cut, not too sexy to swim in, just average. And the v-floss or front thong style was what we considered stripper wear, or something that celebrities would wear but average people did not.

One of the stupidest "fashion" looks ever. And it is still around. Watch every single female gymnast when they are through with their routine or vault or whatever.. the finger goes around the back to tug the leotard back down as they walk back to the bench.

It drove our parents nuts though, and let teenagers feel sexy and adult without showing too much skin. We'd put on a pair of wind shorts over the leotard and bike shorts and after our parents dropped us off at the gym, the wind shorts would come off.

I don't remember it causing much of a wedgie issue back then, nothing like thong underwear, but bike shorts and leotards were both thicker and more slippery than they are now, with a shiny, almost satin finish.

"Yuck"? Surely it is not "skin" that upsets you so much!

Americans have had a problem with knowing there is a vagina behind a stretch of fabric or a penis and testicles under a bulge since Day One. In that respect they are like many Muslims in their fascination: both are in love with the idea of the"dirty" between the human legs.

Carry on, it is virtually a patriotic duty.

Fashion from the 80's and 90's that's come back around, is all. But back then only skinny women wore them and now you have the Kardashians with some pretty extreme proportions that don't need the emphasis.

Exposing the buttocks to others has a long history of expressing "protest, scorn, disrespect, or provocation" according to Wiki.

Perhaps the exhibitionists aren't making a sexual statement at all?
