I once got a fledgling clothing designer, to create for me a custom gown for a military ball, when I was an Army wife. I found her on Etsy, a lady in California, and if memory serves, it was about $350.

I had gone to some of the formal wear stores in my area, and the dresses were far more costly there and I did not like them as well. This way I got the perfect dress (she even let me collaborate on certain design elements) at a reasonable cost for what it was, AND supported a small business, so I really felt it was a win-win. I still wear it once in a while.

Most I ever spent on clothing is $50 for a pair of boots. Didn't last as long as the ones I usually buy for $30 @ Walmart.
I've worn a new $90 Carhart jackets but only paid around $30. Glad my son worked for Carhart!

I once bought some designer sunglasses when I worked at a high end store. What a stupid thing to do, but I was young and didn't know better!

I have bought some boots that cost more then I would normally spend on shoes. My Doc Martin's are still awesome after many years. They were about $125.00 I think. I have a couple more pairs that I spent about $80 on. That was on sale and I was happy!

SAS shoes for $210. For such comfort I would gladly pay twice that price!

Besides my wedding suit which, including shoes belt bowtie pocket square etc, was $850...

I have a shirt I really liked I found at the mall, it costed $175. It's a long sleeve button up, nice colors and fabric. I'll probably never spend that much on any piece of clothing again. I splurged that day for no apparent reason other than I wanted the shirt.

I had a dress custom made for my daughter's wedding. It was about $500 or so. It was still less expensive than my husband's tux.
