I was watching What Not to Wear where a woman thought she was a 34A. She was actually a 32C. It makes me wonder if I'm wearing the right bra size. Is there a way to find out without going out and being measured by a stranger?

Nope, you need to be measured by a stranger, all of whom have seen hundreds or thousands of boobies before. Your's will be nothing special to them. I had mine done at Victoria's Secret. I did it to prove to the sales person that I could not wear a strapless. I was right. I can wear a corset strapless, but not a non-corset version (girls flop out).

Its better to get measured by someone who knows what they are doing. Why are you worried about getting measured by a stranger. Women do the measuring and no one is going to molest you.

redjan1225 - Thanks!

lisalan - You're reading too much into my post ("worried"?? "molest"??). Simply, if it's something I can do myself, why have someone do it for me? That's all.

Use a tape measure to get the size around (under your breasts) to get the band size, go up to the nearest even number if need be. Measure again around your body and across the fullest part of your breasts - 1" larger: A Cup, 2" B cup, etc. This will give you a good idea of size and then you really should try on some from different makers as sizing can be different.

You can do it yourself, but most of the time it's easier to go to the bra department of a department store. Most of them have the little old lady who's been working there for years and can tell you what your size is just by looking at you. It's a little embarrassing, but it's worth it.

And if they can't, they at least know how to measure you correctly. It's not always easy or accurate to do it yourself.

There's no experience like going to a traditional department store and having the little old lady who's been there for years help fit you for a bra. It makes a world of difference.

First off, they will measure you with your bra or tee shirt on (if you prefer) and not naked while taking that into account. Then that gives them a range of what styles and sizes they can show you. I had it done recently at Nordstom's and although the sales rep didn't quite understand why I specifically wanted a beige bra, she was somewhat helpful. Any decent department store will do it for you and don't bother with the internet sizing charts as I found most of them were totally off.

Yes. Just measure yourself using different methods. Use the directions for measurement from the manufacturer. Say your measurement came out to be a 34B. Buy:

- 32 - a,b,c
- 34 - a,b,c

opt for full coverage. They fit better and when you get into "fashion cups"(demi, push up etc) or different makers, then you have to change you size again usually depending on your personal shape. A good fit: no binding, support should be in the body of the bra (straps just hold the cups up) If your boobs are not fully contained in a full coverage you need to go up a cup size. If they are loose enough to slide a finger in or your breasts look flat, go down a cup size. If your band is sliding or not holding right, it may be too big. If you go down a size and its terribly tight you may just need to go up a band size and place it on your body higher.

You can tell with your own eyes when you find the right bra. A tip for shopping for the right cup shape its pick a cup that looks like the shape of your natural breast when its swinging freestyle.LOL I know it sounds silly but it really makes for a great natural fit. Also look for ones that have a bit of stretch in them. Update your collection every 6 months for the best fit.
