I’ve always carried smaller organizer style bags. And when crossbody became a thing, it became my thing. I had this discussion with someone who carried a large filled backpack everywhere. As we talked, it became clear she took public transportation, worked in the city, took work shoes and lunch and water and snacks. In my job, I went from property to property to another property, and while I carried the same things along with an extra change of clothes just in case, she came to the conclusion that the reason I carried a small purse is because my car was my purse. And it was. I carried snacks, water, tissues, wet naps, nail file, handcream, lipgloss, everything you carry in a purse I carried in my car. And so no need to carry around with me in a purse because I was always merely steps away from my car.

I vacillate constantly. I've carried around a bag that I wound up having my curling iron in & even a spare pair of pants & then I got frustrated with not being able to find anything in that hoard & desired something small, neat & efficient. Then I got frustrated that I couldn't fit anything in there & went back to the big ones.

This cycle basically has been repeated dozens of times over the last 30+ years of my life.

Female here. I carry a bag that is probably the same size as previously, but I've gone lighter. I found a Sherpani bag that is perfect for me. I mean, [i]perfect. /I] Women's bags have decreased in size in general, although there are always bigger bags to be had. But in general, they have gotten smaller, and their hardware has decreased, thank heaven.

I love Fossil bags, but they are just too heavy. My present bag is a nylon, multi pocketed cross body, and I can get to the things I need the most often with one hand. And it is light. However, the bag does not come in many colors, and there is only one style I really like. I am on the look out for a replacement. My present bag is looking a little beat up.

But, I want lightweight now that I am old. I do have to wag around some stuff: wallet, sunglasses, emergency inhaler, chapstick, keys, combi lock, phone, cards. This bag will also accommodate my pill counter, when I have to travel. I use a mini version of the bag when I reach my destination.

But I've always carried a med to large bag.

My purse seem to get bigger and bigger and bigger. Then I basically did away with carrying a purse and now I use a fanny pack. It really saved my back and now I don't have to worry about keeping an eye on it or forgetting it. It stays around my waist all the time. It all so keeps me from keeping too much crap...er...stuff in it-only the essentials. And it is big enough to carry my tablet in it when we are traveling.

That's kind of what happened with airline prohibitions on the amounts of liquids people can pack. People probably complained a first, but now I bet most of them now think it's a good idea to pack lighter with those kinds of things.

I can remember at a previous job I carried a backpack everyday. The bag I carry now is no bigger than the small bag on the front part of a standard sized backpack (if you were able to take it off by itself). But the funny thing is, I can't remember what I used to even use the bag for. At one point I even bought a newer one. It wasn't because the first one wore out. I just wanted a slightly larger one with more pockets and organizers inside.

But I still have no idea what I used it for. I never took my lunch to work. I didn't ride the bus. I didn't have papers or materials that I carried to and from work or anything like that. I didn't carry a music player of any kind. Basically just junk I guess.

Does anyone else remember carrying more stuff in the past?
For a long time I was looking for a roomy big bag for hiking on the beach or camping. Yesterday I saw a really nice bag on this website shylero https://shylero.com/
Looks great for me. But I donít know this brand - Shylero. Does anyone have any experience with this brand?
