My friend has a robe and it's pretty nice to steal which means I want my own for that morning/post shower/wearable blanket luxury. I don't want a sexy silk robe that barely covers my butt but something of considerable weight and length- any suggestions?
I have two long, zip=up velvet-y robes, one in purple and one in deep fuschia. They're a lot like the old Vanity Fair "Shevelva" robes and are very warm and plush. Some days I like to wear one in the morning for a couple of hours if the weather is cold and rainy - they're so nice and cuddly.
I'm in Florida so I rarely have need for a robe. I have two, both from Victoria's Secret, one that is heavy for those few cold mornings and one that is a lightweight cotton that comes to the top of my ankle. I've had them both a long, long time since they don't get much use.
I really like my full length fleece zip-front robe from L.L. Bean. It feels soft and cozy, the warmest robe I've ever owned. I have it in dark cranberry.
The best robe I owned is the one I still have. It’s a floor length Turkish terry cloth robe, bright red with a shawl collar, 2 patch pockets and matching belt-tie. It’s been washed hundreds of times and is still thick and cozy and absorbent. Believe it or not, I bought it at the Victoria’s Secret store next to the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco years ago while staying at the hotel. The store is still there, but this was back when VS still had quality merchandise, like silk lingerie, not the crap they have now.
I did purchase a Turkish terry robe similar to mine but in dark blue, (a gift) from the men’s department at Macy’s more recently. The quality was pretty good. You can’t go wrong with Turkish terry. You could check on Amazon, since in-store retail is such crap now, or possibly L.L. Bean or Land’s End.
I have about 5 for various temperatures. Right now I am in the winter robe, which belonged to my late DH, and is floor length white terry cloth. Very warm. I agree, get a man's robe, they give you plenty of coverage.
