I don't mind them if they are tasteful. I have 2 small ones - one on my ankle and my right shoulder. You can't see the one on my shoulder except in bathing suits and certain tank tops. They have meaning for me and I deliberately got them in spots where the skin won't sag. Had a friend who got a Georgia peach down in the pubic area (up near the crease in the leg) and when she got pregnant it stretched something horrible. It never went back right and I tried to tell her she should have thought about it before she got it there.

Hmmm....tastefully done and not too many are sexy. Don't really think its a fad though, tattoos have been around for a very, very long time. Think about tribal cultures in other countries. When they have meaning its one thing, when its scribble, thats another.

yes, it's true tattoos have been around for a very long time, but it was mostly done for tribal reasons in some cultures and also by old sailors , whores, convicts.
it is a FAD when 40% of all people under 30 now have tattoos! and they didnt do it for tribal / culture , etc
they did it because it's the trendy thing to do these days for people under 30

Mr Bolo how about the option "I don't judge people by their exteriors?"
Because I really can't participate in the poll with the choices you've given.
Whether someone has tattoos or not is of no consequence to me and I certainly would never attribute personality traits or moral bias to someone based on them having a tattoo, piercing or NOT having a tattoo or piercing.
It's just a form of adornment like anything else, granted a more permanent one but some people consider their bodies the canvas of their lives and each stretch mark, sag, wrinkle, piercing or tattoo tells a story.
I was in my 30s before I got my first tattoo, it wasn't to join any fad, I'd thought long and hard about it before making my decision and I've never regretted it, will never regret it. It's my body to adorn how I like and if other people choose to use it as an excuse to judge me through their filters so be it. If they're prepared to dismiss me or attribute heinous personality flaws based on something so irrelevent then I guess we probably wouldn't be friends anyway.

The tat I have was well thought out (spent 8 years thinking about what and where). I have it on the back of my left shoulder. The only way you are going to see it, is if I'm wearing a tank top with spaghetti straps or a halter top.
I have no problem if someone wants to tattoo their body. Like Moonshadow, I don't judge people by their exteriors.

Not at all...but, this thread is all about generalizations. I was simply debunking. However, since it was mentioned several times, I will say that I'm quite certain that the amount of ink in one's skin does not directly indicate a lower IQ. Now, I'm not certain I can say the same for those that are gullible enough to embrace such stereotypes.

I don't care..to each his or her own..I'm more concerned with one's personality than exterior attributes or features. I used to wear earings when I was younger at a time when it was considered "taboo" by many for a male to have them. It was very annoying being judged by strangers over something that I made a personal decision to do. We have enough people running around with pens and pads, robes and gavels.

Its been interesting and entertaining reading peoples thoughts on such a minor thing. I personally don't judge people unless I see them doing something that warrants me judging them or unless they are doing something outwardly that shows they need judging. I personally have a tattoo, took a long time to think about it and plan where to put it - I like it and I have received compliments on it from those who have seen it but it's not in a place where it can be seen unless I show it.
I personally think it's a shame that the tattoos have gotten such a bad rap, I hate that term "tramp stamp", certainly not all women who have a back tattoo are tramps, LOL I have a tatto, I do plan on getting another but again, I think about it and it has to have meaning to me. There are some that go overboard and to me, if you can see all tats and no skin anymore, it might be find to secure a job, maybe later you might regret those choices or whatever but for those who took the time to think about it and your tats have meaning then Kudos to you. For those who just do it for the sake of doing it and have artwork all over then maybe you needed to think a little more. Just my thoughts... I still think it's unfair though to generalize and ridicule someone for having artwork. But, opinions are like buttholes and everyone has one LOL
