They are worn here too and mostly on groomed feet (well, the ones I have noticed anyway)

Flip-flops are big in Dallas....probably are pretty much everywhere the weather is very warm.

I remember one time arguing with my 16 year son about wearing flip-flops to church!

Flip- flops are HUGE here in Florida, and seem to be paired even with dress slacks/ shorts at times !
(And as one mentioned....I really did/ do see them at church as well!!! )
It seems to be the "secret rule" around here....LOL...as soon as you cross state line, you HAVE to own one of those to become a "Floridian"....LOL.
I resisted buying them for the longest time...but, finally, gave in and bought one pair. (Needless to say, am I "hooked" now, and own about 5 pairs of them......huh )
I think, they are the next best thing besides walking bare footed (which I love...LOL)

I generally don't bother analyzing what other people are wearing. Wouldn't have the slightest idea who wears flip-flops and who doesn't, although I'd probably notice if it were dead of winter.

What ever happened to the old "No shirt, no shoes, no service" rule?
Flip-flops are shoes.

Flip flops are great, but wearing them to church is definitely inappropriate IMO.

I live in the Sarasota area and I live in flip flops (Im 31). We've been here 2 years from Chicago where I think I owned one pair that I wore rarely. Here, everyone wears them around the clock all year long. I own 5 pairs! The people I have seen here seem to keep their feet pedicured so it's not an issue. I also make sure my flips are in good shape and keep them clean..I also try to buy the higher end ones so they look a little nicer than those crappy plastic ones : )

I have no problem with flip flops as long as the wearers have decent-looking feet. If they do not, I am not offended I just make note that the person has ugly feet or doesn't take care of them.

I love wearing flip-flops and am glad I live in an area (recently moved) where I can wear them just about all year long. I think if one is going to wear them though, that their feet (women AND men) should be well-groomed and pedicured. I think if the feet are well groomed (note I did not mention "pretty", few are blessed with pretty feet) it looks very nice. Most here wear flip flops or sandals. BTW, what's the difference between wearing open-toed sandals (heels etc) and flip flops? The feet are exposed just the same. I have several pair of really cute flops.
