Navel piercings for plus size woman?
My wife would like to get her navel pierced. She is hesitant to do it though because she is not sure if she can. She wears size 18. Anyone with experience, please respond. She is going through some weight loss now and in the future plans to lose more. Should she wait? would it have any effect on the piercing if she gets it now and then loses weight?

If she plans to attempt to lose 10 pants sizes, then I suggest she waits. I had a friend who got a piercing when she was a size 22 - and then decided that she wanted to change her lifestyle.
Needless to say, she got to a size 8 and had to let it close because there was too much excess skin. That was about 3 years ago. For her birthday, we got it re-pierced.

No--if she's over 25 and over a size 6, it just looks awful! Sorry! A piercing is supposed to ENHANCE the tummy--not draw attention to the excess skin and weight--and at a size 18, she has excess! Wait until she's lost all she wants, then see how that skin looks.

I personally think the last post was a bit rude. I am a size 22 pant 21 yr old and I am looking forward to getting mine done. Bcs frankly idk if I will ever reach a size 8 so I want to embrace the body I have. I have no idea what the piercing will do when your wife loses weight but I would fully support her in her enhancements of her current body. No one is saying that anyone besides you or her will see it so in my honest opinion I would tell your wife to go ahead and rock it. (Given the results of what the weight loss does) Go Wifey!

I would wait until she is done losing weight and is in the physical shape she wants to be.

I agree with most here that say that if she is going to go through a significant weight loss, it seems like a good idea to hold off. I'd go one step further and use it as a motivator. When she reaches her desired weight, she gets to celebrate with a piercing.

Definitely wait. It wont heal as well dieting. Plus when she loses, it helps the skin to tone with exercise and wearing compression gear. It will get ripped at and irritated. Use it as a final goal reward!

I'm a bigger gal, and even though when I was a bit younger I wanted to rock a navel piercing, I didn't do it b/c it for sure was going to catch on clothing waistbands, etc., and the risk of tearing and infections and discomfort was much too high to risk for me.
