It pains me to see 93043 girls in the mall all looking exactly the same.

Bleach blonde hair, tanned skin courtesy of the tanning bed, lots and lots of makeup (especially eyeliner), the "preppy" (not actual preppy but the teen created version of preppy) clothing... what's up with this?

I've shunned this style for so long and I hope it fades away soon. The majority of the girls just look like they're trying to fit in with what everyone else says is "in".

A teenage girl is, by definition, someone who is trying to fit in! It's never been any different.

It's no different than any other era. In the 70s, we all had long poker straight hair, parted in the middle. We wore bell bottom, hip hugger jeans with patches on them and earth shoes. We all looked the same.

Teens, generally, are trying to distance themselves from their parents and fit in with their friends. "Being yourself" will come soon enough, just takes time and maturity.

lets not forget in the later '70's, the skintight jeans that required a friend or 2 to zip them!

It was easier if you laid down on the floor to zip them but you needed two friends to help you get back up!

Oh, geez! I'm having flashbacks. Love beads and skin tight jeans. Those were the good old days.
