Love this Topic!
At 67 years old, I'm a REAL retro!
How I remember those crinolines we dunked in heavy duty starch (with sugar added) and hung them out on a tree limb to drip dry....hard as nails! Then we shook them out, and put them under our skirts, added a peasant off-the-shoulder blouse, and a wide cinch belt! Off we went to the Hop!

The dress I ordered above is from an ebay store called bombshell vintage and they sell crinolines too but they are of the softer variety! The one I ordered is actually pictured w/ the crinoline in most of the pictures.
Hey, if you girls are interested in some ADORABLE retro style handbags, you have to check out Dungaree Dolly! I ordered my diaper bag from her and it makes me feel so good to have something that looks like it was made for ME instead of the baby. She custom makes everything and has so many great options. I wrote a review for her last year. My review is still onthe 'reviews' page, three reviews down under 'Learn the Big Apple'.

The quality is very good. I ordered my black playsuit from them and it was very nice. I ordered two dresses, one was too short (my fault,I neglected to look at the length) and one was too large but I gave it to my friend and she looked amazing in it. I know how they size things now and looking more closely at the measurements listed. Customer service is awesome.
That is a super cute dress, by the way.

All of (okay, most of) the retro styles are hot. I remember the Teds would always fight with the punks but would kick-it with the Mod/Ska kids (back in the day). The teddy girls were hot but so wre the Ska girls. It's just great to see these sub-cultures still around today.

I love the clothes too. I noticed a bunch of new dresses on Daddy O's. Can't wait to place another order. I just found THIS dress on Bombshell Vintage for a really great price. I love it!

I used to make a living (well, barely) selling vintage on eBay. I loved loved loved dresses like that, and none I ever found EVER fit me so I got to live vicariously through others in a way, selling dresses to those who would adore them and wear them too.
I sold some amazing sequin Mexican circle skirts and darling dresses when I could find them.. and some amazing formals... such fun. I was always into that look, even when I was a pre-teen. We'd have "50's day" at school and my mom was the only mom who would go all out and make me the full ensemble from scratch because she loved to sew. Everyone else had to roll up their jeans, but my mom would make me circle skirts and poodle skirts and all that. I loved it. Later when I got my first office job she'd sew me pencil skirts that I'd wear with seamed stockings and garters and demure blouses and pumps.
Man I had a great figure and that was a fun time. Darn kids!
Just kidding of course.

Just looked around at Daddy-O's again... God, I want everything there!! Does anyone know of a similar site for a little bit bigger gal? Like I said (or I think I said), I am probably one size out of their top size (MOST of their stuff is XL or 1x). I'm a 1x in other brands but they seem to be sized smaller. I am wanting to/gonna lose it but for now I'd still like to have something to wear!

Go to Kate's Pinups. Kate's Pinups - vintage porn,garter belts,ff stockings,leg fetish,butt
She is a plus sized pin up model and very much an advocate of healthy women. She usually can advise a place to go that will be able to accomodate your size. Also, that site I posted before, WHirling Turban, does things made to order. I'm sure they'd be able to tailor something to your measurements. And a great corset or waist cinter will give you that hourglass shape no matter your size.

Ooooo, I got my dress from Bombshell Vintage and it is a nice one! Looks just like the picture and fits perfectly. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that it has incorporated pockets. I like the idea but they don't make for a very nice sillouette. I'm going to have them removed, I think.
