I'm a rockabilly girl...I mean siren
When I go out, I get out the pretty pencil skirts, heels, and tight tops I like very ladylike fashion from the 1940-1950's
I have the dark hair with Bettie bangs (mine has an eggplant undertone though to match my blue eyes).
I'm short 5 ft. 2, curvy in the right places, but athletic and very fit...with a nice rack
My casual or day wear is dark jeans and various band t-shirts or a feminine top. I own saddle shoes and various ballet flats too. I also throw some punkier looks into the mix too for my casual...
And, did I mention that I actually play guitar! I play an entry level Gretsch guitar (hollowbody electric type)
Yep, my life is about rockabilly pretty much...
Hey, maybe we should start a Google group for our interests in fashion/style/music
Hugs,
AB

I don't think this is true, Michelle. I am 33 and don't intend to ever change my style. In my opinion, retro inspired fashion is absolutely timeless. Think Grace Kelly, Kim Novak, and Ingrid Bergman. No mature lady would look amiss in their duds!

Nice to meat you! Always nice to meet a glamour girl. I used to have bettie page bangs too but I grow them to my eyebrow now so that I can aim them away from my face also. I also just went from red to platinum! It's quite a change!

I've always leaned towards a 'classier' style my entire life. I was made fun of in high school for wearing pencil skirts (they went to my belly button no less!!!) and heels with backseam stockings. Now, I get complimented constantly! I've toned down the way I dress a lot since then (I'm 24) because of my job. It's a classic style, but still a surprise when you show up to work dressed up with full makeup and red lipstick
Now, it's mostly cuffed jeans (when I can find them, I'm 6'1 with a 37" inseam!) and t shirts with chuck taylors. The ocassional weekend is saved for a psychobilly or rockabilly show (Horrorpops next week!).
I just love the style, the music and especially the cars! i play upright bass (4/4 double bass was my instrument major in college) in a few rockabilly and psychobilly bands and did a bit of cheesecake/pinup modeling a couple of years back. I'm so glad there are other gals that love the style as much as I do

I am leggy too so I cuff all my jeans. I do about an 8 inch cuff and iron them each time I wash...

Thankfully, there is no sign-up sheet. You just have to 'let go your conscious self' and forget trends.

Yes!!!!
Boy am I happy I found you!!!
See, I've been dressing in this style for about a year now, I just didn't know it had a name. I became obsessed with all things 1940s-1950s and wanted to make my own style of it. I made most of my clothes or raided thrift stores. Then I moved to Spain and people started saying I was a Rockabilly. So after a lot of research, I realized that I fell into this category AND I finally found websites that make clothes for sirens like me... YAY!
However, I never see to many Black Rockabillies... Maybe I'm the only one. I'm Cuban by heritage, but you are what you look in this world, sadly. I don't wear my hair in this fashion though... I wear 1920s style fingerwaves and my hair is short.
Anyway, I'm still happy I found this thread!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone give me any advice on how to carry my look into winter? I've never really lived in a cold weather environment before and it's getting pretty cold here in Barcelona.
Lovely to meet you ladies, I'm Yasmina.
