Pinupgirl clothing, mostly. I love that Dancing Heart brand. I also wear slip-on vans in the summer time and yeah, I admit I still wear my 13-eye docs in the winter...the same pair I bought 14 years ago. But mostly, I buy my shoes from pinupgirl. Oh, and I love slip on china-doll shoes.
I absolutely love how comfy they are. Though I can't really find a decent pair that will fit my battle-ship feet comfortably and stay on as I move.
LOL...I too have battleship feet. I found a pair in Vegas at the Weekender this year for seven dollars that are great. They have a little more 'structure' and a more sturdy sole than the ones I bought at a Chinese import shop a few years ago. I think these are the brand I bought:
I thought I'd ressurect this topic since some of the other threads seem to be angling towards the retro side of things.
Since I've last posted here, as most of you know by now, I have established a retro/vintage channel on youtube that has gained quite a bit of momentum-much to my surprise. I didnt realize how many people love the vintage look. It's so fun challenging myself w/ vintage hairstyles and style options.
And has anybody seen the fabulous new shoes and dresses on pinupgirlclothing? Masuimi Max, the pinup girl, has a new cosmetic line as well. It's called 'I am trouble' and I absolutely love the matte lipstick colors she has and the different types of glosses. I ordered a few products and will probably do a review on my channel when I get them.
I LOVE the retro/rockabilly look, but the clothes are SOOOOOOOO expensive, so I don't dress up in that style very often. But when I do, for some reason I turn heads wherever I go, lol!
I just can't see spending $175 on a dress, or $80 for a shirt, but I'm cheap like that, lol.
I guess I will just have to break down and buy a sewing machine, and make em myself.
yep, I'm a Rockabilly Girl. The style is simple-retro glamor. Pretty much anything that bespeaks the forties or early fifties goes. We love our makeup, especially at night when the false eyelashes come out. We love to cuff our jeans with heels, belt our fitted tops, and don our flirty sundresses or pencil skirts for a night out. Hair is always layered , sometimes with betty-page style bangs, and curled either in a heated or cold set...pin curls are a plus. We love Victory Rolls, modest Esther Willliams style swimwear, and we protect our skin with a parasol. Many of us are heavily tattooed though some of us prefer the 'pristine' skin of yore. This look takes time, there's no doubt, but I think it is the most flattering style on the female form and women of all sizes look beautiful in it. Several online stores cater to the retro-lady. Daddyos.com, Mybabyjo.com, and Pinupgirlclothing.com to name a few.
Most people don't even know this subculture exists. Are there any more of you out there?
Well, I like The Cramps, The Flame Trick Subs, Rev Horton Heat, and other Rockabilly/ psychobilly bands, but I don't really care for the style that goes along with it. At least not on me; I'm sure it's fine on other people.
