Jeans work great for any age. A nice pheasant blouse can be worn as dressy or casual. Im into black but then, some of us just 'can' wear the same as we did 20 or so years ago.

I agree. Jeans always work. Looks great with flip flops, heels, barefoot. Whatever floats your boat. Even though, I look d*mn fine for my age, I am still approaching 40. I exercise to look the best that I can, BUT I am what I am. Age 20 has come and gone. Imo, I think it looks pathetic to see a mother dressing just like her teenage daughter. I know...reality bites

Anything that makes you feel good and feel comfortable wearing. Just cus we're 40, doesn't mean we have to dress a certain way. Just look at celebrities, alot of 40+ still have it going on and they dress young and hip and they look hot, and i don't think they look like teens.

I'm 40, and i like to dress sexy when i go out, i don't think i look like a teen or trashy. What looks good on me, hip hugger jeans, they make your butt look good, a fitted top and some heels.

The way i see is, if you're out and about and whatever it is that you are wearing, if you feel like people are staring and smerking, then, for one you are obviously not comfortable and 2 maybe you should take another look at what you are wearing.

The only rule that i go by is.......just cus they make it in my size, it doesn't mean a looks good on me, i have a mirror and it don't lie.

I think what I hate about being 40 is the beauty/fashion advice I see. When you're in your 20s or even 30s, magazines and programs are all about making the most of your gorgeousness. Turn 40, and it's as if some invisible timer went "DING". All of a sudden, fashion and beauty advice become "How to accessorize that bag you should now be wearing over your head" and "How not to kill yourself because you're not worth a plugged nickel now that you're over 35". GAAAAH, HAAAATE.

I am 5'3", still carrying some baby weight, and otherwise reputed to be cute. It KILLS me to know that there is stuff I can never wear again, not because some authority wills it so, but because it's better to be a decent-looking 40 than try to pull off rode-hard-and-put-away-wet 24. I avoid capris, anything tucked in, anything sleeveless, and anything with very narrow legs. The current trend toward Empire waisted tops is a blessing straight from God's mercy, as far as I'm concerned. Well, as far as those who have to look at me are concerned, too.

Women of any age should wear whatever they damn well please. Whatever makes them feel beautiful, comfortable, or whatever the situation dictates.

What they shouldn't do is worry about what other people think of what they're wearing.

Well, for one, some of us can still wear the same size as we did as back then and still look good wearing it. I like to dress sporty or occaisionally, goth and can do so even at my age. But if I looked a million years old, couldnt so.

Classic styles work for any age. Assuming you have good taste, wear what you feel good in and don't worry too much about your age.

Me too - in fact, I feel better about myself and more confident at 40 then I ever did in my 20's. I refuse to dress a certain way just because I hit a number or because I am a mom.

I'm in better shape now then I ever was then, and looking back at pictures, I look younger now then I did back then.

Wear what makes you feel good and not self conscious. If you feel good about yourself it comes through in what you are wearing.
