You're right that there are a lot more important things to worry about...but this is a thread specifically about panty hose. So....that's why we're talking about it.
Don't mind me, I just crack jokes all day.

LOL, I get that. Just didn't get that people are so harsh about others wearing pantyhose. I'm sitting here reading some remarks and trying to recall ever looking at, noticing, thinking about or commenting on someone wearing them and I haven't.

I know, those of us that happen to notice things like that are cursed and/or gifted? lol. I notice it because I do image consulting and I can't help but think, "You would look so much more professional like this" or "that girl wouldn't have declined the drink you offered to buy her if you did this"....
We stopped at applebee's tonight for an appetizer and drink or two and our waiter had the WORST haircut ever. He was a great server, so mentioning it to my girlfriends at the table made me sound awful.....but....his hair was REALLY bad.
sorry!!!!

Well, just count your blessings that the hair was on his head and not in your salad .
And back to the hose, if folks don't like them or want to be really harsh about those of us who do, well, so be it. My legs, my hose. If that brands me as "middle-aged" or even "elderly" in your book, so be it! No skin off my nose. Or legs. Or whatever

I am a hose-hater too. Even when I was young and slender, I hated them. I attended a "secretarial" school in the late 80's that required us to wear hose every day. BS. I remember stripping them in the parking lot each day... yuck.
They are hot, itchy, twisty...they pinch and roll and cut off circulation. I also am one who doesn't really get the point of "flesh" colored hose to cover flesh... and most often the darker toned hose are very obviously hose on a pale skinned person. I am pale skinned myself and can never find hose in my skin color.
I have a totally different view on stockings though, and will wear them any day over pantyhose. I remember horrifying my mom and grandma when I got my first office job and bought old fashioned garters and hose. They went on and on about how pantyhose were the greatest thing, how they had to wear garters and hated it, how pantyhose were "liberating", etc. I think not! Stockings w/garters are much more comfy IMO. If I HAD to wear something store bought today, I'd buy those pantyhose that are like a faux garter setup with the stretch lace "garter" built in. I can't stand the way hose fit up top and thigh highs roll down on me.
I do cover the legs for job interviews (with stockings, usually off black) though then if I get the job I assess the situation. If I see that hose are the norm, I just wear pants. I will also admit that I have seen a few people that I thought *needed* either hose, or a tan, or pants. I knew an attorney that had a great figure and wore cute little suits and dresses, preferred peep-toe shoes, but her legs always had razor burn or scratches or whatever and it just didn't look professional. She didn't dress that way for court though.

From a guys view point
I need to add I've noticed all respectable, fashion conscience Bank Robbers & Muggers have not worn panty hose over their heads for at least the last 2 years.
That's enough to convince me they must be out of style.

I'm 50. If I wear them here in L.A. I will look out of place, dated and a little bit "off".

I never wear them in the summer, but almost always in the winter...never with strappy shoes. I like the way panty hose holds in the tummy flab.
I'm over 50, but my shirts are always at least at the knee now.

Does anyone remember the bra burning of the 70s? I think its time to do the same with pantyhose. I actually think I have a pair in my bedroom, still in the package of course.
I used to wear pantyhose the same color as my outfit so if I had on a burgundy suit, I had on the same color of shoes and hose. I had alot of different colors of hose. Every last one of them were horribly uncomfortable.
Burn your pantyhose OR better yet, I use them to tie up my roses, they do a fabulous job.
