Shopping at the Salvation Army
I buy all my clothes at the Salvation Army, and I dress better than most people. I have beautiful dresses, linen pants and shirts, everything. I will never buy retail again.
Does anyone else shop at the Sal?

NO, but i was watching Denise Richards last night, her reality show, and it showed her going to a goodwill store taking in 12 pairs of extremely expensive shoes, Dolce & Gabana and Jimmy choos, now i sure wouldn't mind shopping at that goodwill.

I think where you live (and the income levels around that area) have alot to do with what is available to buy! Our SA has second-hand Wal-mart clothes--not exactly what I shop for!

I love Sal's Boutique! There's a lot of crap, but then again, there's a lot of very nice stuff, too- you just have to be willing to really look through it all a few times a year. I probably get more there for my son that for me, but hey- I don't usually walk away empty-handed. Goodwill here in Maine is a major recipient of returns from L.L. Bean. My son has had a Bean jacket and snow pants every winter of his life, and I have never bought one at retail price.
I also find a lot of stuff at other charity shops- there is one close to me that uses the $$ they make to support the area food bank, and they always have very high-end labels, especially around Labor Day, when the summer residents cast off the current styles and don't want to drag them back to where ever they live the rest of the year...

I will go to the goodwill in a heartbeat. I can sometimes find uniforms and/or gym clothes for the kids. I can make something new out recycled material, find cute wall pictures, lamps. If can be washed I can use it...
I'm going when I get off work now!

My wife turned me on to the local SA and Goodwill for clothes. Especially for our toddlers, nothing beats the deals you can get there. Our excursions there tend to be hit or miss, but when you can walk out having spent only 1.00-5.00 on nice pants or a shirt it all seems worth the effort.
I have friends who act proud to have negotiated great prices on electronics and other household items, but when it comes to clothing shopping they would never consider a SA or Goodwill. I think they're missing the boat. The wardrobe savings to be had is immense.

I have never shopped at the SA, but my dd loves to shop at these stores. She likes that they have retro clothing for cheap. Her classmate turned her on to this and I don't complain because she's not spending too much money, except for on sneakers. I don't have patience to go through the racks, even in a dept store.

I walked into a local GoodWill store and was hit by the smell of used clothing, most probably not laundered before it was put on the racks. Everything smelled so stuffy and greasy and old it was disgusting. I didn't stay long.

I will admit, each store has its own character and I'm lucky to have very nice ones nearby me stocked full of used & clean designer clothing. If you have others nearby, I would recommend checking them out before passing judgement on all of them.
