I don't think it's so ugly. He trained/fought hard to earn those stripes! At least it's symbolic and has meaning for him.

My husband was in the Marine Corps as well and came close on several occassions of getting a USMC tat. He was always just up in the air on which one he'd like to live with forever!

I doubt the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS would approve of that tattoo

looks like a disrespectful way of showing pride in the Corps

if he was wearing a tank top on a marine base, I bet they would tell him to cover it up

Don't see why not Marine Corps Tattoos Volume 1 (http://www.grunt.com/scuttlebutt/marine-Corps-bs/tattoos1.asp - broken link)

I don't think it's disrespectful at all. I seriously doubt they would tell him to cover up his tat on base. There's alot the Marine Corps won't let them do with their bodies, but I don't think this mild tattoo is one of them.

He's a marine... should we expect anything different? Haha, just joking.

I think if that's how he wants to express his work and accomplishments, then why should we judge him? If anything, we should judge the artist who did a horrible job on it...

When you make a display you can expect it to be judged.

Do British Regulars still get "Cawnpore Well" tatoos?

Only if they were a part of it...

Though, I will have to make mention that it's almost sad that no matter what you do in life that people will judge you. And most of the times, they'll find whatever negative they can.

He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He's proud of his service. Frankly, I commend all who don the uniform.
