I just started using an eyelash curler (where have I been?! with as vain as I am I can't believe I just discovered how great they are!), but I don't think I'm loving it. I mean, I like the way my lashes look, but it's a cheapy curler and I'm pretty sure I'm going to rip out all of my lashes one of these days with it. The only brand I know of that people seem to love is Shu Uemura--are they that great and are there any other good ones?

I have used other brands, but I prefer the Shu Uemura. Yeah, it's pricey, but I'm pretty much hooked on that one. I think it just curls a little better. My .02.

Love them! I've found that if you heat them with a hairdryer for a couple of seconds before you use them, your lashes stay curled for longer!

They are the best and worth the money! Make sure you keep up with the replacement sponge, mine needed replacing relatively quickly.

I have a Shu but I hear Shiseido makes a good one, too. Also, if you have corner spots that you can't get to, try a Japonesque Precision Curler (http://www.amazon.com/Japonesque-Precision-Lash-Curler/dp/B0009W57TI - broken link). I love mine.

Curl your lashes BEFORE mascara--then they won't "stick" to the curler and you won't be pulling them out!

I think (at least in my experience) a lot of it is also the mascara you use...a really heavy one will weigh down your lashes. I have really straight eyelashes, but fairly long... I use a regular ole' cheapo Maybelline curler and they stay good for the day (w/the mascara of course - that's another issue, they keep discontinuing all the ones I like).

A woman told me one time that she did rip her lashes out with one.

With a curler? - I know my mom says she can't use one (she has really short lashes) - I guess they need to post a warning that a steady hand is needed? - I just use it, 30 seconds, counting to myself.

Yeah...I guess she used the same one for awhile..... maybe it got mascara on it or something. Then when she went to use it, it stuck her lashes to it or something?
Its a bad deal.... but I thought about her pulling that thing off, and seeing what happened... I laughed! I know I shouldn`t have, but it struck me as funny for some reason.
