Laura Bush is a bit more matronly, IMO, but she is very well put together. She never looks dowdy and she always has colors on that highlight her featutres and and make her eyes bright.

And some are concerned that the McCains are not coming across as one of the average Joe Americans...no one gets to the point in politics where they are a preidential candidate by being an Average Joe and one of the people. They all have amazing connections, education and many times the money to boot.
Maybe a softer blonde would help. I think I would still see 'Barbie' unless she tried a different style. All I see is the hair.

I was impressed with what I learned about her.

It depends on how much you make. I'm sure Oprah spends money like that on clothes. If you don't make that kind of money you wouldn't buy clothes that expensive.
If anyone berated you for spending money you could afford on an outfit it would be because they were envious. People who aren't envious will say, "Good for you! I wish I could afford it too!"

It is all relative, I suppose.

Well I know B.Obama is something like 6'3'' or something?
I think she has to be at least 5'11' or more.

The point of it being tacky is that she has no relation or connection to the majority of everyday people. So how can she or hers lead what she does not know. I just think if I was camp. adviser I would of told her to tone it down. She looks pretty on her own. Even if it is just plastics..She didnt need to go over the top with an over priced outfit too.

It shouldnt matter how much you make. Wasting money is wasting money.
Her outfit didnt look THAT good that it was worth that waste.
How they spend thier money is going to be how they spend YOUR money.

And thats what I look at in leaders and thier partners.
Plus the world already hates the garish american indulgence ways.
She needs to think about that if shes going to be first lady.

Oprah isnt having anything to do with leading a country in crisis.
Showbiz is for flash. She can do whatever she wants.
Politics should be for respect and modesty. Not flashy crap.

What is a waste money is a matter of opinion best left up to the individual doing the earning. That's part of your right to "the pursuit of happiness". You get to make those decisions and you don't have to care what the envious think about it.

I've been thinking about this quote since I read it, one can hardly call the Obama's poor. Their 2007 income was $4.2 million. But I guess according to your estimates that does make them middle-class, lol. I do think people tend to forget that the Obama's are wealthy themselves. Not as wealthy as the McCains, but wealthy all the same, and not your average American.

It's very foolish to wear an outfit that costs as much as a home while your husband is running for President in a horrible economy. It's disrespectful and belittling and shows they are "elitist."
