I recently cut the sleeves off of a red and white tommy smellfinger, plaid shirt. While chopping it, I made the mistake of chopping the collar off. When I showed my wife she called me gay !!!!!

sleevelesswimp is on a distinguished road
I am not gay, nor a redneck, but I love wearing nice tight sleeveless polo shirts tucked into my jeans or slacks. I used to cut the sleeves off my short-sleeved polos, but the armholes would always stretch or become uneven. Since they don't make sleeveless polos for men, I purchase my sleeveless polos from the women's dept. or clothing websites for women. I love showing off my big, smooth, freckly shoulders this way, but I'm thinking I look a bit effeminate and I do receive funny looks and remarks from women. Whatya think?

I'm glad you asked this question. Personally, I'm tired of the judgemental society that we live in always seeming to classify people by what they wear. Gay or straight cannot is not determined by what one wears. I'm not sure that Redneck can either. I know of many straight guys who wear sleeveless shirts (cutoff or otherwise), and prefer shorts that are shorter than the current fashion is. I don't understand why people bash Richard Simmons, a man who has devoted a lot of his time to helping others. You can find many people wearing similar outfits as his at any gym.
My feeling is, wear your shirt if that makes you happy and if people want to judge you for it, that's their problem!

OMG, this thread is too funny! I always thought sleeveless shirts look kind of gay/redneck but I guess it would depend on the guy

It's still hard to understand why guys would go to wal-mart or wherever wearing those shirts when stores have air conditioning. Of course they are either slobs or wanting to show off. I just saw one at Home Depot last Sunday spending 15 minutes looking through the cleaning supplies section. Probably 20's guy with huge arms and a clueless look. I got a big laugh when his "friend" brought the shopping cart and had the same look. In the same store I saw a fat guy digging through the plumbing section and showing plumber's "crack" scaring off the pansy boys. He also was sleeveless. Both extremes.

Now I cannot be a total hypocrite, I do have a couple of those shirts myself. I only wear them while working in the Bobcat because of advice from a (redneck) friend. It's hot in there and the work means my arms are at my side only moving the steering levers. I would get a heat rash around the armpits because my shirt stays wet all day. With the sleeves cut off the air seems to blow through and my heat rash is reduced. However, I would never go to a store looking like that. So I guess I am a bit "redneck" after all.

Hahaha, we used to have a gay redneck roommate, and he wore sleeveless shirts all the time.

I don't care to hear the part of a guy who wears a homemade sleaveless flannel shirt is either gay or redneck. It is not a style that I would wear. I personally think that type of shirt looks stupid, but if someone wants to wear that that's their business not mine.
