I recently attended an MLB game where there was a promo t-shirt giveaway, and all the guys seated around me (generally preppy/fratty early twenties-ish guys, not rednecks, etc.) tore their sleeves off. Kinda lame.

Neither, I automatically think this guy is a hard worker, that isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Nothing gay or redneck about that.

The bad thing is that due to the hot weather we are now experiencing I am going to have to go back to those shirts. If I take my shirt off I end up stuck to the bobcat seat and have a heat rash there. With regular t-shirts I get the heat rash at the back of my armpits. So now I have the rash in both places and am stuck looking gay or redneck while I try and landscape the yard. The alternative to stay indoors in air conditioning for a month does not seem appealing. As for the "preppy" guys I do remember them with the same look in the 80's but I did hope that by now it had faded from popular culture. It is intriguing that the style is acceptable for women whe rarely do significant physical labor but men in formal settings are expected to wear bulky, uncomfortable suits and ties designed to make you sweat and be miserable. Then the scantily clad women complain that the air conditioning is too cold. Well yes, they have no pants and no sleeves and a lower metabolism.

sleevelesswimp is on a distinguished road
I've been enjoying wearing my two favorite sleeveless shirts this summer, both sleeveless western shirts with collars, western yokes, and snap buttons with breast pockets. I LOVE these shirts and they make me look very unique with my big, smooth, freckly shoulders coming out of the armholes.

The reason for wearing sleeveless shirts is that they're cooler and more comfortable. Especially if you're doing a lot of heavy lifting.
