So, I decide to get my brows shaped. Have only done it once before. I go to a new salon, sit down on the perch, and the stylist swipes my eyebrow area with a cotton soaked alcohol swab. There was too much alcohol on the swab and it got into my eyes. My eyes burn. I ask her for a water soaked cloth so I could clean my lashes and eye area. What an uncomfortable experience. She was pleasant enough, but really, it seems that one should pay extra attention to what you are doing, especially around someone's eyes.

It was $15.00. I was originally before "the burning", going to give her a $5.00 tip which I thought was nice, and what I would have wanted if that were me. I ended up tipping her $3.00, I probably shouln't have done that. But I do believe in tipping people. Has anyone else had alcohol in their eyes before? My brows DO look nice, but I won't go back there.

Ouch!!! I once had someone drop hot wax on my lashes. Luckily, my eyes were closed.

Good Ghod, $15!?! The most I've ever paid is $8 for a wax. I hate Wal-Mart, but I've had great experiences with the ladies working in the salon areas.

Eyebrow shaping really does enhance your appearance, and is damn near impossible to do well on your own. There are eyebrow razor tools that you can use for upkeep if you can't make it to your regular appointment.

I'd say try someone else, but if you're really happy with her job, this may have been one of those freak accidents.

When I lived in Chicago, I paid $18 for an eyebrow wax, but the person who did it was amazing and worth every penny. Here in the South, where I now live, I've had it done from $5.00 to $12.00 and, while adequate, was nowhere near the same excellent job. I guess I'll keep trying.

Never had alcohol dripped into my eyes. That would hurt! Don't blame you for holding back on your tip. She's lucky she got one at all after that.

$3 is still a 20% tip, which I think is a good tip. I usually give 20% for good service...I don't consider getting alcohol in my eyes good service but I suppose accidents happen. I wouldn't have given a $5 tip (33% of the cost of service) in any case unless it was someone I'd gone to for a long time, and was very good.

That really really sucks to get alcohol in the eyes. Just imagine if you'd been wearing contacts! Personally, I've never had my eyebrows done... and with the horror stories I hear, I don't plan on it.
