i'm not that great at picking out clothes for myself... especially winter dressy/casual clothes that involve skirts. tall boots, pumps, color stockings/hose, what length coat? ahh. i usually resort to a slightly above the knee 3/4 sleeve black dress that is nice, but i'm kind of bored. i wanted to attempt to look a little more cute.

i'm 5'1.

here's what i'm considering, please let me know what you think and i'm open to other suggestions as well.

here's the sweater:

shoes:

or
tall boots that i have yet to find. i wish the skirt was a tad darker. i may keep looking for a darker one.

then, are nude hose ok? and what kind of coat? remember, i'm a shortie so long coats make me look frompy usually. i'm also blonde and fair skinned so i don't think that khaki color coat, while really pretty, would mesh well w/ me and i love the purple but don't know if the color and length would look good w/ the outfit. grr.

here they are:

here's the alternative, haha:

None of those appeal to a MTF crossdresser like me! I'm 5' 4" tall size 4 to 6.

You want to blend your lower colors to make you look taller and make sure that little ruffle doesnt overpower your face.

I would go with semi sheer on the legs in a nice stocking. and a nude colored leather shoe.
When trying on pointy tip shoes...Dont buy them at all if your feet run big for your size..They make your feet look bigger. But if the heel is right and the toe is right it will make your entire leg look longer.

Hem the skirt so does hit at the knee or higher.

Camel wool coats are classic. GET IT!
The purple one has too much going on up top for a petite girl.
The buttons are too popping out visually.

thank you pitt_transplant! sounds good about the shoes, check on the skirt (it's in a petite and hits in the right spot), i'll try on the coat and hope that it doesn't wash me out or make me look frompy - i really like it. i like the purple one too but i see what you're saying - it makes sense. hose sound good and i don't think the ruffle overpowers my face. it's a pretty tame ruffle, haha.

thanks again!

Get a really lovely purple scarf. It will make you look nice with color without overpowering you.
Plus you can start a scarf collection...warning..may be addictive!

A resounding NO! to the black leggings in the first pic. The skirt and blouse are very nice but the dark stockings kill it.

The purple jacket is square and unflattering. Double breasted coats make the wearer look wide, this coat is guaranteed to make the wearer look like a box. Think Spongbob in purple.

The black dress....is okish. Like one of those fashion magazines work-to-evening recommendations. Meh.
