Default Smart Wool Socks: Have you tried them?

Smart Wool socks cost $17 a pair, but they are supposed to be warm and soft, not itchy.

Good socks are hard to find. Has anyone tried these? If so, do you recommend them?

Thanks,

Woofers (F.W.)

No kidding? Same styles?

Also, please tell us why you like them so much? Questions below:

- Are they itchy?
- Are they warm?
- Are they thick or thin? (To fit into boots)
- Are they stylish?
- Do they last or do they pill up?
- Do they stay up or fall down around ankles?

Thanks,

Woofers (F.W.)

SmartWool socks are wonderful! I have running and hiking styles, and love them both. They keep my feet warm and dry, and have just the right amount of cushioning.

Sierra does overstocks and closeouts......but I figure they are socks.

I use mine for running, skiing and cycling and so far no one has ever stopped me on the road or trail and said "hey! those are last year's socks". So I figure I'm good.

I have different models of varying thicknesses. Most of mine tend to be ankle height and fairly thin to fit in running or cycling shoes. I do have a few pairs of taller/thicker socks for skiing.

What I like about them is that they are wool; feet stay warm even when wet. I don't get blisters. They don't itch. They don't wear out too quickly (I've had problems with some other brands).

One thing....they don't shrink as much as ~some~ wool socks, but I still go up one size just to be on the safe side.

I checked on Sierra and they have a limited selection. I saw some at Marshalls too, but I like some of the brighter colors, which costs more money. I might start with those because I'm vain!

My favorite wool sock is a plain army marching boot sock.
I stole my dad's pair that he had since the 60's! they lived until the late 90's when I had to replace them.

Try a thin silk sock between the itchy ones. The army ones didnt itch me.

You know, I've hear of people cherishing an old pair of jeans, a leather jacket, or maybe even a really good pair of shoes.

But this is the first I've heard about a pair of socks.
