How did this thread degenerate into an argument over being fit vs. wearing Spanx
Of course being fit is better, but as has been said even slim, fit women can do with a "smoother" appearance in some clothes. And some women may want a little help from Spanx while they are working on getting slim and fit.

It seems as if every thread regarding topics like this one attracts one person who just has to post " Hey people-go to the gym/exercise/eat less-etc." If ALL it took to lose weight was eating less and exercising, there wouldn't be so many overweight people walking around. Obviously there are other factors involved-not everyone who is overweight got that way stuffing their face and being a couch potato.
I know women who are thin and work out yet still have saddlebags, belly-pooches, etc. that they just can't get rid of.
Shapewear is awesome, BTW!

Probably because this person trolls to start arguments. Started one in a low rise thread and I regret standing up for it because they commented in a rep that "they don't even wear low rise"
Or maybe the troll has never really been in shape or has never worn a piece of fitted clothing too. If your body fat is higher than 12 % you can use shapewear.
Or maybe I just dont get it as I am not a butterface that needs to keep everything from the neck down 110% perfect because everything from the neck up is 110% bad news....

I'm curious...how does any kind of shapewear, help a "muffin-top"? Perhaps this is a terminology thing? I've always heard and used the term to describe the overhang of flesh above the low-rise jeans/pants, because 1) the shirt is too short, 2) the pants are too tight, and 3) the wearer simply has too much tummy fat to wear low-rise pants in the first place.
How would you correct that with shapewear??

So....you would wear low-rise pants, with shapewear that holds IN the fat overhang....and then a short top over the shapewear? Oh yeah...I'm sure that would look just grand. No...no "shapewear" is going to help a muffintop...at least, not the ones that I am remembering seeing. Perhaps you are simply talking about a different thing here. You must be.

I don't ever wear crop tops...
I just new when I was heavier I didnt have to worry about softies poking out when I would sit down and bend etc. I am super picky about the way stuff fits and moves..Doing the bend tests and all...lol
Well you can try it yourself or not. No one is dragging you to the store by your ear. It does make anyone look better.

No, I have only one item of "shapewear", it's a full smoothing brief that I wear with a certain LBD.
Not talking about "crop tops". But the term "muffintop", as I understand it, refers to the unattractive bulges of flesh that stick out over the pants - SKIN. Most average length tops/sweaters are going to show some skin with low-rise pants ( I have some that do, but I try to wear longer sweaters and such with low-rise pants, so that they provide coverage. ) And I guess I just don't get the idea of how anything could "smooth" that. I mean...it would show...right? So, are you talking about wearing something like a camisole under the top...that would cover the skin? If so, then I certainly applaud THAT, but it still does not correct the problem. Makes it less obvious, for sure.

I have no need of them, (if I knew what "them" was - you never answered that). But I was curious as to how ANYTHING would "fix" a muffintop. I don't have them - I wouldn't wear anything that fit like that in the first place.
I think you must have misunderstood my posts. No matter.
