Artsy is the 'queen' of picture-link posting. Just one more thing to, er - love about him!

I asked her what she liked and recommended. After I ordered, she invited me to sit with her. I could tell she was attracted to me, however, I wasn't trying to really get into anything with her. I'm moving out of state soon, so it would be pointless. I was attracted to her though. We talked for quite a while (over 45 minutes). The fact that we agreed on so many things is probably the reason why it lasted so long, even after we had long finished eating. She was actually shopping there with her father, but she finished before he did. When he finished, he came to the food court. I knew automatically that something was wrong by the look he gave me. He pulled her aside and talked to her. They got into a whispered dispute which resulted in him walking away. She came back and told me that her father asked why she was attracted to somebody who is "dirty" and doesn't wash his hair (dreadlock stereotype). I laughed, but in all honesty, it saddens me when people choose to remain ignorant of things they don't understand.

You do in fact have to wash dreadlocks. In fact, not washing them is the best way to ruin them, and you can always pick out the people who don't take care of their locks. They look bad. I always get compliments on mine.

So, to finish this incredibly long post, I just have a few questions. Have you ever rejected somebody simply because they had dreadlocks? Are they a turn off to you? Would you ever date somebody with dreadlocks?

I'm not out to flame anybody. Keep that in mind.
haaz there are idiot everywhere... Yes you can tell those that do not wash there dreds .... my hair is locked and people have a definite stereotype about them... I love my locks and I wash them... those individuals with what I call crap locks make me want to tell them you give those who keep up there locks a bad name

I like locks and considered them in high school but my mum and dad won't allow it. Years later my younger brother had them for years.

One thing I have to say, it's a shame people aren't considered employable by some companies becouse of locks and braids. It's getting better but at one time it was near enough impossible to get certain jobs.

I think dreads, when they are kept well, can be absolutely beautiful. They can also be quite nasty, even though I know that MOST people who wear them are meticulously clean. I would not reject someone because of locks. They are neither a turn-on nor a turn-off; some who wear them are attractive, some are not. I have never considered wearing them myself though, even though I am a strong advocate of natural hair.

I think they look gorgeous on men when they're neat and a certain length.

Bob Marley said it best: "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery."

I agree that dreads can be really dirty or well kept...but the true history of dreads is they form in dirty uncombed hair...
