That looks good but they charge. I want to do it myself. Thanks for the info tho'.
How do you treat the (black semi-shiny) leather to keep it looking new and from cracking?
What brand?
I take my Coach bags in once a year for cleaning and leather care, and once every 2 years for Louis Vuitton and Prada.
If you have a nice bag, it could void their cleaning and repair, but if it's not a nicer bag, use saddle soap and olive oil to clean and condition the leather.
Hmmm....I hadn't given any thought to this actually. I generally don't do anything for my bags as I've never been one to spend a whole bunch on a bag. But I recently bought 2 $$$ bags in Paris - I'll have to remember the saddle soap thing!

All my bags, whether expensive or not, look high-end so, regardless of their cost, I'd like to keep them looking new. The one I'm wanting to treat now is an MXX (never heard of the brand before or since) for $100 I got from Penney's about 7 or 8 years ago and only used a few times but it's kind of dulled looking now. It was originally semi-shiny looking. I also have a Dooney and Bourke solid black, small, domed Cabriolet satchel I'd like to treat to keep it nice.
My Dooneys get only the best saddle soap. I do it maybe twice a year...and especially before putting away a certain color bag for the season. One of my D&Bs is navy blue and just glows after this treatment. I live in an extremely dry environment and it's very hard on leather!
I clean the leather with glycerin, available in any tack/feed store...
Two thoughts, visit your local shoe repair place to see what leather conditioning products they have. At mine, sometimes I see that they are working on leather goods other than shoes and boots. Or visit a handbag boutique or good luggage shop and ask them for advice. Especially if any of their bags are made with leather that has a finish like your handbag.

That's exactly what I do, and what my family does. Considering a good english dressage saddle can cost upwards of $10,000 (my run of the mill all purpose english saddle was $4500) and get WAY more abuse than an average purse, saddle soap/cleaner is the way to go. Feed stores work, ag supply stores etc. would work.

Ok, I hope none of these are experimental in that they work on some leathers but not on others. I like my handbags too much to experiment on them. Thanks for the responses.
