Can you ever get it back?
I've always been told I look far younger than I am but when my brother died in '06 I started losing it, looks and health-wise both. Then, two years later when my sister died, I really lost it. I no longer look like myself and my health is in the danger zone. I know I can probably get my health back, but can I get my looks back? I've had one person tell me in three years I look like I'm in my late 30s. While that was flattering, I absolutely do not believe them. I know better. If you can get it back, where do you start? I feel kind of lost.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by getting your looks back. But I will say that if you've let yourself go health wise and weight wise, they start exercising. Getting into an exercise routine will not only lift you up physically, but mentally as well.
You start thinking better about yourself - and you'll want to continue to do more. That's the first place you should start in my opinion. If you haven't been used to having to exercise, then it can be hard to get started, but once you've formed the habit, you'll feel guilty when you don't.
I'm 41. Always looked young for my age. But when I hit my mid 30's exercising was key for me.

I have no problem exercising, it's my face that suddenly looks older--and I do mean suddenly. I have pics to prove it. A friend of mine, upon seeing me at my sister's funeral, was shocked. She didn't say so but I could tell by the look on her face. I mean I'm not hideous, but I'm just not myself right now and it's affecting every aspect of my life. Thank you for your response. Maybe I could beef it up a bit--exercise. I'm doing minimal, I know.

I think you can get it back in the looks department some because you probably are under stress. I would try to eliminate stress as much as you can and one way might be regular yoga. Do you like dogs? Walk dogs if you like them or volunteer to help others you will be amazed what that does for you. You can also try a face lift (I am not being sarcastic) they will help a lot along with the stress mangement

I LOVE dogs! This might be a good idea. Facelift? LOL I can't get myself to go there, even if I weren't scared to death to spend money right now.

LMAO Is he gay? It's just that I've never seen a guy dog wear a tiara. Come to think of it, I've never seen any dog wear a tiara. LOL He's very handsome and debonair. He reminds me of my Duchess, a G/S ex police dog I had when I was 10 to 13. She was an angel and I still miss her. They're such gorgeous and wonderful dogs.

I can atest to the fact that after about two weeks of steadily working out 3-5 times a week you will start to look younger and more refreshed..... mainly because everytime you workout you send blood rushing to all the areas that haven't been getting much lately and it flushes out the "stagnant" areas........
Then just keep up with the exercise because TRUST me..... once you start you will notice your mood start to go up up up........ (Find a cardio activity you REALLY like........ mine is running. Which is funny becuz in high school I HATED running. NOW I LOVE it because of the euphoric feeling I have afterwards (and cuz of the flush it gives me)....... find something like that that you REALLY like..... ))
Along with working out I eat SUPER healthy. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy eating "guilty" treats and stuff, but I've learned to LOVE healthy food. Because it makes me feel SOOOO good from the inside out.

If you smoke you have to stop. That REALLY ages your face. I'm 42 and have friends who smoke ( they've smoked for years) and they are in their early 30s and look at least 10 years older than ME.

one thing you really have to remember....... when you lose a loved one....... if they were still here....... would they like seeing you in the condition you're in? Or would they want you to be enjoying life and look vibrant???
I'm betting they'd WANT you to get out and make yourself feel good again....... just keep that in mind........ when I work out sometimes I think of my grandpa who died of melanoma. I was so sad when he died. But he was in the military and everytime I run I think of him pushing me forward, urging me on, cheering me on....... cuz I know he'd be like that if he were still here.......
It makes for some REALLLLLY amazing motivation
