I'm a grad student in the southeast, I keep seeing undergrad girls wearing these god-awful boat/dock loafers... not sure what they are called. Their brown leather with stitching around the rounded toe and those square leather laces. God, they are ugly. It must be some kind of trend though, the girls wearing them are clearly in the wannabe-fashionista crowd.

Probably Sperrys. I used to hate them too but they have grown on me and now I have a pair plus a really cute shiny Tommy Hilfiger pair.

Myself, I enjoy piercings (Kuharai's hubby here, the one getting his eyebrow pierced again.) I also used to have a labret and a cartiladge piercing. I like the goth style, although I don't wear it as much anymore. And, of course, I enjoy multi-coloured hair styles.
Fashions that I hope go out of style are the "ghetto" oversized clothing. It never looked good, and will never look good. Also, anything too skimpy. Especially for normal clothing. I think it's insane to wear those 10 in stilletos as normal pieces of clothing.

The skinny tight little jeans that the hipsters are wearing need to go.
The EMO-Goth look is just asking for a beating. Not that I think anyone should be picked on for their fashion choices, but I've seen the goth kids at the mall getting harassed by the thugs and the homies, and there have been instances where they've been assaulted by bullies for the way they carry themselves. It's unfortunate but that is the risk you take in this country.
Mom Jeans - the most unsexy thing a woman can do is prance around in these awful things. Wear some khaki's if you can't find a decent pair of jeans. They have designer style jeans out there that look good and don't cost a fortune.
Dad Jeans - No reason why you have to wear faded Lee jeans from the 80's with your polo shirt tucked in if you're over 40, get yourself a decent pair of up to date jeans. No need to spend a fortune on Lucky brand or Guess, even Levi's make's some stylish stuff now for under $40.
Tight T-shirts - don't do it unless you're built like Mario Lopez or Jessica Alba.
Cornrows...if you're white, don't do it!
Big bushy beards...you can get away with it if you're over 50, but if you're under 30 you look like a castaway from a deserted island. Trim it up please. Yeah, I'm talking to you Mr. Phoenix.

Those awful Crocs can take a permanent hike. They just look like (And are!) cheap plastic shoes. UGG boots are alright, but EVERYONE (except me) seems to be wearing them, and the look is boring already. And nothing drives me more nuts than people, usually guys, who wear long sloppy shorts in the winter time. It's bad enough in the summer, but looks so silly and inappropriate in the winter time.

That's true but I don't consider it a good thing. It's not that hard and doesn't require much effort to groom yourself and present yourself nicely to the world. There are entirely too many slobs.

So very true. On some bizarre whim I bought a pair of fur lined Croc ballet slippers awhile back and I just can't bring myself to wear them. Its hard to even put them on to wear around the house. They will probably make their way to the Goodwill soon.

The "plastic shoes" comment reminded me of perhaps the worst of all: flip-flops. :barf: The worst of all being those plastic, wal-mart, $2.95 looking things. The very definition of tacky. I can see if you're at the beach or poolside, but otherwise these hippy drippy droopy disgusting things should be outlawed.

It is. Sadly, tacky is all the rage.
