I have very light, thin, eyelashes and brown eyes, up until now I wear the blackest black, and recently read an article that people with brown eyes should wear blue.

Anyone have any experience with using different colors? I have also read that there is a "purple". Not really sure what color eyes the purple is for.

It depends upon the color of your hair, skin and eyebrows - for example - I am a blonde so I wear dark brown - black is too harsh for me. Blue mascara is kinda cheap looking in my opinion.

Get a few colors. I like to do a color and then finish the tips in black or dark brown.
Make sure you can exchange or return it if you dont like it. I have seen some pretty nasty blue mascaras too...lol

Basically is just the same as eyeshadow. Flattering colors for the eye color type.

I, too, have blond hair and light eyebrows--I use a brown/black for daytime, and a black for evening (a bit more dramatic and visible!)
I don't think "colors" are really appropriate for daytime, unless you're 14!

The colors can work, but don't buy the cheapo "Wet n Wild" ones from the drugstore. Get a good quality that isn't bright, pure blue. Sephora will have some good quality that are a blue black or blue brown. Just a tint, the idea is someone looking at you from 3 feet away should NOT be able to tell you have blue mascara on.

I agree - the ones with just a hint of blue, green or purple are nice. I actually used a brownish/maroonish color that made my blue eyes look even bluer.

My mom has worn blue mascara for as long as I can remember. She has hazel eyes, green eyeliner and blue mascara....for some reason it works on her. Nearly anyone else would look like a clown, but somehow it looks great one her.

I like putting on my blackest black mascara and put red or blue on the tips. I ran out of red mascara some time ago, but can't seem to find anymore! I also like to put on my blackest black mascara, then sprinkle a touch of glitter on top quickly (before it dries completely).

Two for you to look for:
Bloody Mary - they sell that at hot topic Yeh, I know and care not.

And then there is also :
Vincent Longo (http://www.vincentlongo.com/User/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=204 - broken link)

You could always get one of those clear mascaras and make your own red with eye safe pigments too.
