I still wear panty hose with dress clothes for work . My boss definately did not look the bare leg look and I think that is just a case of a person wanting to sleep in late and not dress appropriately for work . I have worked very few places esp. offices that would allow the bare leg look .

Most offices want you to wear hose with a dress or skirt.
Out of office, it's appropriate to go without hose with a casual dress and sandals.

It depends on where you live and work. I work in law. If you wear pantyhose in the desert, people look at you like you have two heads. We have days during summer where the temps are 120 degrees. Not exactly pantyhose weather.

I agree depends on the weather a lot....I don't think it's a big deal in my office most of the time but I can't imagine wearing a wool suit and suede pumps on a snowy day with bare, pale legs.....Linen suit or cotton dress in the summer with summer-y shoes and tan legs - that would go fine.

Me! I will never wear a dress or skirt without pantyhose, no matter where I'm going.

There was a whole thread about this a while ago, with some pretty strong opinions on each side. Personally, I think it's situational. There are some times and places where bare legs are simply not appropriate; other times and places, they're fine.

In fact on 2 previous forums, the vote was split 50/50 for both men and women. i prefer women in pantyhose which swayed both votes my way, YAY!

I'm updating this (closest I could find - the search function isn't so great

I'm going to a wedding Sat. night in PA and the weather forecast is rain and colder - I'm pretty sure I still have some wearable pantyhose from "back in the day" - I'm planning on wearing them, if it's cold and damp, I want at least the illusion (self delusion?) of a little warmer (the wedding venue is a civil war era barn) - Am I going to be making myself look "old"?

I think the darker colors are appropriate for winter clothes, and I even notice tights being worn now. I am not sure about a wedding though. Since it is at night, I'd wear dark colored pantyhose if that is a good look for the dress or outfit you are wearing.

Otherwise I'd wear flesh colored pantyhose unless the shoes I was wearing were open toed.

I wore bare legs to my adult child's wedding 10 years ago. But that took place outdoors in the late summer.
