A SUIT made from "the world's most expensive wool" and with 18-carat gold and diamond buttons has been sold to a mystery buyer for $144,000.

It took more than 80 hours to make the one-off suit from rare materials such as wool from the South American Vicuna, which can only be shorn once every three years, and Qiviuk wool, gathered from the Arctic muskox.

While $144,000 is a LOT of money, I'm surprised to learn it's the most expensive suit ever. For some reason, I assumed big-time, multi-million/billionares would be spending far more than that. I mean, if you're racking in 8-, 9-, 10-million a year, $144,000 is a Wal-Mart price.

Oh, to be one of those folks who could spend that much on an outfit. Then again, who's going to dry clean it? And what would THAT weekly bill be?

I wonder what the most expensive evening gown would come in at?

We have a designer boutique here in the desert (Fe Zandi) that makes one of a kind pieces that are in that category. I went in there one day, hoping to find something unique and original for an event. She, of course, had beautiful things, but at prices like $30,000.00 and up per dress. Needless to say, I didn't get my unique, one of a kind frock from that shop.
