I don't get upset about it. It's an affectation. It's saying "I am so unique, such a special, individual snowflake that I must dress exactly like my peers".
Have any of you noticed that teens all have the same, straight, long hair style? Even if it's the most unflattering style for them (say, for example, they have a long, thin face). Yes, unique and special. Every one of them.

I don't like PJ's in public although I do wear my yoga clothes out to Walmart or to get flowers for some reason I am fine with that. I guess maybe because my yoga clothes are more flattering I hate the PJ look and usually my customers that wear the PJ's wear them every single day because they have no job and don't care. I know this isn't the case with everybody though Give me a nice person in PJ's and that is ok

I think it's sloppy and silly for an adullt woman to where pj's out in public. That says a lot about a persons personality IMNSHO.

Because I am sick of people from other countries looking down their noses at Americans THINKING they are better than we are. :Not liking a trend that is going on here is one thing, but slamming all Americans and making generalizations such as they are lazy is ridiculous.

Looking at photos recently of my parents and grandparents, etc. from back in the 40s, 50s and 60s really made me think about how everyone really put a lot of effort into being presentable in public AND at home.
In the majority of these old photos the men had on suits w/ties and the women wore nice dresses & pearls to just go shopping, to the movies or even just sitting on the front porch.
I wish that this was still a part of our culture. We have become so sloppy as Americans. Not saying that I haven't been guilty to a small degree but my awareness has made me much more inclined to "fix-up" a bit more even to do mundane errands, etc.

Guess it's just a fad
but I don't like it; that was the question originally, I think.
I agree w/previous post, the elegance of the dress code 1950 and previous made everyone look so nice, it really did
Maybe it bothers me because I do take care to look presentable in public and even 15 minutes can be the difference between looking like you can't afford jeans, i.e., 'trailer' or looking well-groomed.
Maybe since Kid Rock, etal, trailer is 'in'?
Either way, like the XXL droopy drawers the guys wear...I hope this fad goes away!
Kid will be kids...I went thru many phases and looked ridiculous, but I was never, ever "sloppy", so I guess maybe I'm OCD, who knows.

I know I'm probably going to be jumping off topic a bit with this.. but the "way-back times" were a lot different than they are today. When it came to picture-taking, cameras were not as versatile, nor was the processing as easy as it is today. Picture-taking wasn't as much as a normal occurence as it is today... so I would suppose that people were more apt to "dress-up" for pictures. I'm sure taking 100+ pictures in an hour's span (hurray rapid-fire) was unheard of back then.
As for the sloppiness of today, I'm guilty to a degree as well. Went fishing yesterday and could be seen hopping about town in a tanktop with a sports bra underneath, and jean shorts cut off at the knee. For shoes, my sandals did me well. No makeup, no jewelry ('cept wedding bands), nothing special at all.
Today, it's a work day, so I'm sitting comfy in a pink polo (with my Barcode Kitties tank underneath) and slacks. A little bit of eyeliner and tan eye shadow... and my hair just thrown back in a small pony. I think I look at least acceptable to be out in public... But if I were to stand next to a picture of my grandmother when she was my age, I would look like a total bum.
On the issue of wearing pajamas out in public, I don't care how people wish to present themselves. Because really... you can't please everyone.

I wouldn't wear PJs in public. I'd think a little weirdly of someone older than college age doing that, male or female but really what do I care. I wouldn't even notice if someone had on yoga pants or sweats. The thing that bugs me the most is those ladies wearing super high heels and skirts, jewelry etc, all made up strutting around slowly in the grocery store. I think They feel they are put together and fabulous which is fine, but I think most normal people would assume they are high maintenance or pretentious. I mean you're buying milk and chips, it's not a runway for god's sake!
Also, I know some guys like to see girls half naked and strutting around or put together, but to many (if not most) they would feel such girls are very unapproachable. Something to look at like a magazine, but not to actually want to talk to and get to be with. I know my husband hates 'crusty' fussy button up shirts or frills and heels. He much prefers to see women rocking the sporty look, ponytail, soft touchable clothing, approachable and friendly look (I don't mean sloppy sweats, but jeans and a tee, or softer pants hanging around the house.)

I absolutely despise it. Looks like Hell.
Sleeping, and what I wear to bed, is a very personal thing. I don't like sweatpants, either; in fact, during the winter I often sleep in sweats.
