Having a black pair and a brown pair of flip flops is perfect.

I mean socks like these to wear with sneakers if you're wearing shorts:
Amazon.com: Hanes Classics Men's 6-pack Cushion Extra Low-Cut Socks: Apparel
Not sure what they are called ("low-cut"?)

You could also just go sock-less if you're comfortable with that.

Sounds like you're all set!
The Reefs didn't even have to be broken in! Thanks for the link!

It depends on what kind of shorts you are wanting to wear.

Jogging type shorts go best with walking or jogging type sneakers.

Denim shorts look great in sandals, flip-flops, or low high heel type shoes (like 1-2 inches is sexy).

Slack kind of shorts go best with sandals or heels (up to 3 inches or more).

Capris look best with high heels.

Cargo type shorts with t-shirt or buttoned down shirt look better with sandals or flip-flops.

I have all these kinds of shorts and I have all these kinds of shoes to go with them too.

Just make sure your feet look nice and your toe nails are trimed and clean. Some men get pedicures even if it's only once or twice a year to get their feet ready for summer and remind them what feet should look like..LOL Of course you can do it yourself too.
Most definitely...I've been "training" my 14 year old son, who is very fond of flip flops, to take care of his feet. If you're going to show them, groom them!
