My mom is in town and she is leading me down the road to hell.
We have the same tastes, although she is truly an artist. I have done the unthinkable and opened up a new Nordstrom credit card. How I will pay off all this stuff, I have no idea. Thank god I've saved all the receipts.
Please share your shopping experience with your moms....

My mom visits several times/year. That's what we do when she's here. Shop. She also loves Nordstrom but doesn't have one near her. When we go shopping she will generally treat me to a few items and some lunch. It is nice but after about 2 days I'm pretty much done. I'm generally not much of a shopper and then we start getting on each other's nerves.....

I have a lot of fun shopping with my mother. We both like the sames things, so it is a dangerous combo. I'll find something like a great pair of shoes, and she'll say, "Get it!" And then I go ahead and buy it. Later she says to me, "Oh, my god, what are you going to do? How are you going to pay for all this?" We like to buy things and return them. It's a serious adrenaline rush.

Oh, the first day or two is fun but then - eh....I just have a different life/lifestyle than my mom did or aspired for us(?). I don't get my nails done (although I do get pedicures during the summer - I love the foot rub and it's a treat not to have to deal with my own toenails...), I work. I do love shoes though, and if I could wear them easily, it could be very very dangerous so it's probably a good thing! How do you return them? I get excited about stuff once I buy it and I would find it totally depressing to buy then return. I'm generally a pretty pragmatic person so I really have to talk myself into stuff - (which is why my mom ends up treating me)...

I love clothes so much. It's like heroin for me. I am always folding my clothes, ironing my clothes, and buying new clothes. It's all I think about and all I fantasize about. New shoes turn me on. What can I say?
When I was young and single I loved clothes. Now....all I can think about is - will I be able to cover college tuition/car insurance/sports camp/retirement savings?
I haven't clothes shopped with my mom since my high school days. Our dress up tastes are very different. In my twenties, I went through a serious punk rock leather phase. In my thirties I was a Neiman Marcus/Copley Place junkie. Now I go to rummage sales, thrift shops and eBay.
About eight years ago, I was in CA visiting family and took my mom with me as I poked through the local antique malls. I bought quite well for resale, but had to sneak my purchases. lol
What I like doing with my mom is going out to eat. No fancy places, just good cheap eats of all ethnicities.
My mother is an artist. She has outstanding taste and has worked retail for years. I don't eat while I'm shopping due to the adrenaline rush.
