The only exclusion that I really have to the statement are boardshorts, cut-off-at-the-knee skinny jeans, and calf-length baggy JNCO type shorts. I think it has something to do with most guys I've seen wearing shorts having extremely bony knees that most shorts tend to accentuate.

Shorts accentuate both knock knees and bow legs.

I like my shorts to end just below the knee so that when I sit down, my knees are covered. Don't ask why..

The problem is that since I'm not an old geezer who wears his shorts right at his belly button/right on his waist, I have a hard time finding shorts that fit correctly without being too baggy or needing to be worn up high. I usually just err on the side of comfort and get what I can find, though :S

Not long ago, men routinely wore shorts that ended above the knee, and nobody was bothered by it. I think it's pretty strange that anybody would think there's something actually wrong with a man exposing, say, 1/3 of the top half of his leg. And heaven forbid if he has hair on his legs. Who can imagine that?

As I said, there are some REALLY weird comments in this thread.
I agree, there are really closed minded people on this board, and serious hang ups about the male body...
My uncle lives in Florida, he is probably in his 70's, wears shorts all the time.... Florida- Hot- Humid= shorts. What is so strange about that???
Brooklyn NY, Summer- Hot- Humid = men wear shorts....Whats the problem...

threads like this really make me laugh, because it tells me that Americans really do have the stupidest hangups about the male body........

I live in Florida, and I don't even own a pair of shorts. I mostly wear jeans.

I don't understand why a man in shorts would be considered peculiar. Some men choose not to wear shorts and some do. I'm not wild about seeing guys in short shorts or tight shorts, but there are lots of great styles of shorts (and great male legs) out there. It's all good either way.

I don't have hangups about the male body.

I have hangups about clothes that accentuate features that could do without accentuating.
