I went to this little Chinese spa place today. They offer facials, waxing, hair & nail care... ect. On the menu, the had mole removal. I'm like wtf.. isn't that done by like doctors? Then I was like was like hummmm.. I got 2 little chocolate chips, one my neck and one on my collar bone. They are very small but sometime i find myself picking at it. Its not flat... its like tiny lint ball on my shoulders. So now I am curious... is this safe? Can this be done at a spa? Has anyone ever done it before?

Will they send it to a lab to see if it's a pre-cancerous one? I doubt it. But a doctor would.

Hot wax?! ....makes me want to run away. What was the purpose? (I've heard old remedies for ear infections with hot wax, but heck, nothing beats going to the doctor for certain things....)

Not to mention, a Dr's office will be FAR more sanitary and capable of handling such a thing. What happens should it get infected? He or she will end up having to suffer, or swallow his/her pride and go to the dr for an antibiotic....then possibly get quite the lecture about what she did and why she shouldn't have. I'd let the dr. check it out, or leave it.

I have two itsy bitsy ones on my neck, and a larger one on my back (the skin-sticking up types). I assume the one on my back developed when I was working at a summer camp, from over sun-exposure (got it when I was about 16 or 17). Most you can do is keep an eye on any abnormalities...and should they occur, straight to the dr.

Go to a state-licensed dermatologist so that you don't have to worry about infection especially staph. In the event of a problem, a doctor can prescribe meds. Also, just because you have moles removed does not mean that they won't grow back at some point.

Its REALLY cheap to get it done at a doctor's office. You can also remove them youself with bloodroot but I still think you should have it looked at by a doctor before you touch it at all. Bloodroot can cause really bad reactions in some people too...So I would not mess with that at all because its up near your face area.

My brother had one removed from his nose @ the derm's and it just looked like he had ben pricked with a pin. The bloodroot method can take skin around the mole too or cause a scar.
