Well, this would depend on the kind of woman YOU want? Do you want a woman you have to put in designer clothes and car or do you want a woman who wears clothes that show her off in all the right places? Be what you want to attract, and you will get what you want. We as humans are attracted to "like" looking males and females. A girl into hip hop will look for a baggy pant, a cowgirl will look for a hat, a pampered girl will look for labels or at your car, a fit girl will look for big guns and a nice butt. lol
Dress to attract what you want to find. Its a candy store out there! lol Just remember to have the stuff to back it up. A fat guy in some well fitting pants or a poor guy in a label won't cut it. lol
P.S. Don't worry if any of you are fat poor guys, we look for that too. ha ha ha

I don't care for the brand much. I care more if it fits, it's clean, and if it's at a reasonable price.

Though I do have to say I can't stand Lee Jeans, Levi's, or Wrangler's. Too cowboyish/cowgirlish look, which I'm not.

I appreciate a nicely dressed guy, I don't care about designer stuff, but the BR, JCrew, or Gap look is ok with me. One thing I don't really care for are those Ed Hardy tees, or the graphic tees with strange crosses on them, etc.
Jeans or pants should be comfortably fit, not skin tight! One of my favorite looks on men is a nice pair of jeans (not embellished) and a button-down, untucked, long sleeve shirt.

Here's a more detailed clarification as I realize this is a bit of a vague thing to say:

Guy with brand name clothes description: Wears fairly high-name designer clothing (i.e. your typical designer jean brands, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, maybe some very expensive brands for longer-lasting pieces), and clothes fit decently, but maybe don't fit his body perfectly. Clothes have off-the-rack fit, and while the size is appropriate, they don't have a "tailored" fit or really accentuate oneself.

Guy with well-fitted clothes description: Wears good clothing (like Banana Republic, J. Crew, or anything else that's just under things like Ralph Lauren and the like), but gets the important pieces tailored/altered to really highlight one's physique.

I only ask this because whenever I've asked girls about this, it seems to be sort of a split since some girls think guys that wear high-designer clothes take care of themselves more, but obviously, better-fitting clothes show off one's physique better. So what do you all think?

Those high end brands you listed are more middle of the road like Gap stuff to me. But if you are in shape you can make anything look good. I think its more important not to pick unflattering stuff for whatever your price range is. Just because its a label, does not mean its a winner.

But high end stuff like this:
Stefano Ricci*-*Striped Dress Shirt, Blue/White*-*Neiman Marcus

Yipes stripes...

I usually notice clothing first and then body.

I prefer low-maintenance guys, so I would only notice the brand if he was a total label w***e, and then I would just be repelled by him. Honestly.

Fit, definitely! What could be more unattractive than a guy in designer or brand name duds which are 5 sizes too big for him - or worse, 5 sizes too small!!! Although I gotta admit, PeeWee Herman in that small suit is awfully sexy!!!

notice- physique, the way they carry themselves

Then upon closer look- demeanor, personality (sense of humor is a great hook from dry wit, sarcastic or slightly slapstick), their point of views, the quality of their thoughts, sense of security or comfortable in their own skin. Last thing I notice are what the nametag on their clothes say.

Neither. I don't really notice what a guy is wearing, to be honest--assuming it's normal looking and fits him normally. If I see someone wearing clothing with visible brand names on it, however, then I'd obviously notice the branding.

Might I add that I'm married to a guy that buys his shirts in 5-packs wrapped in plastic.

High end clothes means he takes care of himself more and LESS taking care of the ladies in my book. Too self absorbed is what I read when I see high end like that. I like a man to be a man. I prefer a pretty simple manly man, with a good attitude, fun, nice.... One who keeps himself clean, shaves, keeps a tight haircut and wears what he has around (that is clean and within reason of course). Levis, long sleeve T..whatever.

I absolutely do NOT notice the brand of clothes he wears. A guy seems to high maintenance for him to be worried about what brand his clothes are or fixing his hair just so with gel or pomade. If they fit nicely, and are clean that is cool with me. I also like a guy who can enjoy a burger and beer and not worry about what kind of bottle of wine to order though. Thank goodness I have myself a good natured wholesome all american midwestern man who cares more about football. That to me is sexy. Not that he is wearing levis or polo or whatever. Isn't that for women to worry about or is this just me?

I don't mean to be harsh here, just honest.
Worry less about clothes, just make sure they're clean!

I am very turned off by obsessions with clothes/labels by a guy.
I dont even mind a once in a while messy, rumpled look as long as its not for dinner at the Ritz.
I also roll my eyes at guys over indulged with their looks, hair, muscles etc.
Give me a HEALTHY, funny, together, smart, kind man.

Never mind, second thought, I already have one of those guys.
