I'd like to know if this is just a trend, or is it something that will become permanent with women?
I've heard the lame excuses why women shave everything ... it's cleaner, healthier, more hygienic, sexier, guys will go down on them more often, etc.
I'm thinking that the reasons are really psychological; here are several theories that have been brought up:
-young women do it, because they are basically girls (a 22 year-old has spent most of her life as a girl, whereas a 35 year-old not)
-therefore having hair down there is more like a woman thing, adulthood, or getting older thing
-society/family has convinced girls/women that hair down their is ugly, and to make it beautiful you have to shave everything
-society/family has convinced girls/women that the whole thing down there is ugly, and so shaving just makes a bad thing a little better
-most porn shows that the girl is clean shaven down there, and so they learn from that
-pressure from man-boys who want it shaved because they like the young girl look (one of my friends is like that and he's 40)
-women think they'll get it more from a guy if they shave
Or do women truly think that it just looks much better on them? Or does society tell them that it looks better? If so, why did women in the past not shave it all off, like back in the 80s & 90s (and before that?)
Anyways, I love it when women keep hair down there... I'm not asking them to let it grow uncontrollably, but for those who shave everything (or even just keep the tiniest landing strip), I ask them... no I beg them... please analyze deep down what it is that makes you want to shave off what makes you a woman. I cannot stand it when society pressures women to adapt to some ideal that's imaginary.
And guys contribute to this whole mess... my buddy uses the "hair in teeth" excuse, but he's obviously not very good at doing it. I think I get hair in the teeth 1% of the time and it doesn't bother me one bit. BFD! I guess I'm a man, not a wussy. And I don't secretly dream that I'm making love to a minor.
Help me out people!

My thought on this is that some women must have a lot of time on their hands and/or money to burn on insignificant/petty things. I can barely get my legs shaved regularly, yet some have time to shave everywhere else. Good for them. As far as being more hygenic, I don't think so. There is a reason why there is hair there. As far as having more "action" because it is shaved, that is false too. I think that about covers it all.

You are a guy and obviously never had a period. Imagine blowing your nose out your crotch + blood. You think thats going to be smooth sailing with a jungle going on?
I don't think porn makes you shave. LOL. It may make your boyfriend ask you to, but only you are going to do it or not. I don't know why you think your ideal is better than someone else personal crotchal choice.
p.s. it makes sex better. So I can see why some "men" would not get that one.
|
Totally agree. I'm mid/late 30s and shave it all because it's so much easier when that time of the month rolls around. And the rest of the month it feels better. I hate any hair. Except on my head. And even that would be much shorter were it not for my husband.
I've had a guy that didn't want me to even trim - yuck! I couldn't handle that at all. He had to deal with shaving and trimming. Then a guy asked me to shave it all. I wasn't sure at first, but within a week I knew I'd never go back. The only down side is when it starts growing back and gets all prickly. God help ya if you don't have time to shave - ouch!

There are probably several girls under the age of 18 that answered this question without their parents knowing about it. If it would have been my daughter I would have been concerned. Just a thought...and maybe you didn't really think about that before you posted .

Your point is, censor this whole thread because a sub-18 year may post? If you did discover your daughter posted you thought was too personal (sexual or not), that's you and her problem...

Do what you want in the shave zone but maybe you should look into improving your immune system somehow (exercise diet etc?). I have not tried it out bare and horseback riding..LOL...Yeh..I think I may need some natural padding for that type of event.

Actually I have a great immune system, I eat very clean, and exercise 4 days we week in addition to riding and working full time.I've ran marathons and done Mini triathalons I haven't called into work sick in over 8 years because I never get more then a sniffle.
Of course You CAN be a carrier for MRSA, how do you think it spreads so easily? You think the waxing salon knowingly waxed a person with a seeping open wound? There are multiple medical documents that support this, and its well accepted in the medical community. I'm trying to de-colonize myself but it can take years. What I have is Community-associated MRSA, not the flesh eating kind. Healthy people all over this country have CA-MRSA.
Do whatever you want with your hair as well, just don't be ignorant and say that getting an infection isn't possible, or that only dirty people or people with weak immune systems are at risk.

Hmmm, I would and there are girls that visit these forums. Sorry, but I have a right to think your question is a bit personal and odd. Say what you like but I bet you wouldn't like it if it involved someone dear to you.
and maybe perhaps I shouldn't have used the terminology "ride" so I apologize for that. But my feelings and thoughts are still the same. It is called privacy, human respect and dignity.

Well, I see your point (kind of).
I'd prefer to have no teenage boy around my 15 year old daughter, but that's because I was 15 once, and all I wanted to do was to have sex with my girlfriend.
There are quite a few threads in "Love & Relationships" which might concern you as well - such as "are you a screamer" or "do you like to talk dirty". Just spend some time over there.
Not only that, unless you control the internet sites to which your child can have access, there are many websites out there that talk about personal issues, that you might find odd, not to mention the porn sites and the sexually-oriented media (Cosmo on-line - top 10 ways to make your partner climax, etc). Anything a girl is curious about, she can find something on the internet. Children learn a lot about adult behavior through the internet. Adults are responsible for the vast majority of internet content, after all.
One memorable website is dedicated to women who have large labia. Evidently, there are women out there who think that large labia is a bad thing, an ugly thing, and they want to have cosmetic surgery to get it smaller. The web site in question attempts to combat this perception. Many young women have responded that they have felt ugly because of their large labia, but they are glad there is a website that says there is nothing wrong with it. That's a very personal subject, yet it's out there for all to see.
What about genital mutiliation in Africa? There are websites dedicated to fighting this practice. Some people might find this a very personal topic, yet there are non-profits in Washington DC and other world cities fighting this awful cutting off the clitoris. Very personal, yet out there on the web.
I actually formed an activist group on campus during my MBA (late 90s) against the practice of cutting off the clitoris in Africa. Sure, it's very personal, but my crusade garnered a lot of attention from appreciative women. We had a website.
