I know someone who works in a womens medical office...she says that about 95% of women she sees have nothing down there. If it's a trend...its a strong one.

There are quite a few threads in "Love & Relationships" which might concern you as well - such as "are you a screamer" or "do you like to talk dirty". Just spend some time over there.
Not only that, unless you control the internet sites to which your child can have access, there are many websites out there that talk about personal issues, that you might find odd, not to mention the porn sites and the sexually-oriented media (Cosmo on-line - top 10 ways to make your partner climax, etc). Anything a girl is curious about, she can find something on the internet. Children learn a lot about adult behavior through the internet. Adults are responsible for the vast majority of internet content, after all.
One memorable website is dedicated to women who have large labia. Evidently, there are women out there who think that large labia is a bad thing, an ugly thing, and they want to have cosmetic surgery to get it smaller. The web site in question attempts to combat this perception. Many young women have responded that they have felt ugly because of their large labia, but they are glad there is a website that says there is nothing wrong with it. That's a very personal subject, yet it's out there for all to see.
What about genital mutiliation in Africa? There are websites dedicated to fighting this practice. Some people might find this a very personal topic, yet there are non-profits in Washington DC and other world cities fighting this awful cutting off the clitoris. Very personal, yet out there on the web.
I actually formed an activist group on campus during my MBA (late 90s) against the practice of cutting off the clitoris in Africa. Sure, it's very personal, but my crusade garnered a lot of attention from appreciative women. We had a website.

Actually I am a Christian and I don't usually spend time on these forums or with the subjects you mentioned so thanks but no thanks. I just happened to see this thread when I was looking for something else and thought it was a bizarre topic and then when I viewed the responses I was really shocked. I guess I can't expect anything different from the world as morals and things that were once moral and private have become the talk of the office or even something normal for young kids. That is why this World is going to Hell in a handbag, there just isn't anything sacred, moral or reserved for marriage and the privacy of one's home anymore.
And trust me, I haven't always lived a pure wholesome life and I didn't grow up with unicorns and ponies in my room. I am NOT Mrs. Walton either. I have done about everything that anyone else has done and probably worse. I just came to a place in my life where I wanted to be respected and I wanted things to be right and didn't want to experience bad consequences anymore. I guess this isn't everyone's conviction. So NO I won't be visiting those other forums because to be quite honest with you, I am not interested and I shouldn't have posted here in the first place.
Have fun with your discussion.

Does your friend work in South Beach? I don't think the middle of the country is so enamored with being completely bare.

Does anyone else find it kind of odd how she keeps coming back in here to look and post?

I think it is clear that there are a variety of opinions on the subject and that is fine It is clearly not a one size issue

Open dialogue serves a valid purpose. Perhaps you feel it's better to just keep some things hushed though? That theory worked real nicely for a bunch of priests years ago.

I do because I hate hair sticky out when it's not supposed to when I wear a swimsuit or bikini. Ugggh!! I shave down there more in the summer than I do in the winter. I can care less in the winter, but the summer I wear my swimsuits just about everyday and shorts. I just like that smooth feeling when I wear my swimsuit and shorts and not worry about hair sticking out through.

True, jfk. This comment of hers was on page 24. This is now 28 I think.
