I am 34 and have been shaving for a long time...I think I first did it in 1995?? I think?? I first did the whole landscaping thing which eventually just turned into shaving it all off. Initially it was more just curiosity for myself and also a surprise for my boyfriend (husband now). So I fall into that "lame" excuse you mention

I continued to shave though because it made sex better for me, like alot better. Took the hair off and exposed more of me Now I guess you can do this with just landscaping but for me you either have hair or you need to shave. That in between stage itches and is prickly and annoyed me more.

Not to mention your lame excuses again...but it can be dirty, it made me feel gross, it can itch, get all nasty with your period, even natural discharge makes it nasty to me if you really want to know. It wasn't society it all, my husband never increased his going down there whether it was shaved or not. In fact he doesn't care either way ...he's always told me to just "show up". I just simply enjoy sex more with my hair gone. Kind of like shaving my legs and armpits....I wouldn't want to let those get too long even if my husband didn't care.

Not sure why it bothers the original poster so much really, if it makes sex better for the ladies why does it matter? If it makes them feel cleaner or get off easier I would think a guy would be OK with that. My sister is a OB/gyn RN and when I first shaved it all off I had to ask her if the docs, nurses see it alot and she said no they don't and she has seen alot of crotches LOL so maybe it isnt as common as you find.

Pitt is pretty much on top of this...

Back to the original topic...I can't possible see people go back, just like I cannot imagine girls would stop shaving their legs, armpits or lip hair...

Sadly that is incorrect. Getting a post-wax infection is not always the waxee's fault; in fact it usually isn't. Salons can be filthy places and if they do not do a top-notch job of cleaning and sterilizing any instrument they use on more than one person, infection can result. Plus, warm wax is a terrific medium to grow bacteria. If you have not picked up an infection yet it's because you're lucky, not because you're better at cleaning yourself than other people. Washing your noonie with soap every day can actually give you an infection too. Anything that disrupts the vaginal flora can.

I don't know about you, but I try not to scratch that area on things hair or not. LOL...That one sent horrible images into my mind. Like attacking trees pantless or something LOL
Most people scratch if something itches. Bravo to you if you can ignore crotch itch all day, every day. Personally I choose to avoid it altogether.

Oh well, I'll throw in my .02 worth. I am 37 and been doing it for a long time, I being any other way would just be weird. If I'm going to shave my legs and pits, why not go ahead and take care of it. As far as motivation, probably a combination of all the cliche things, feels cleaner, sexier, etc... It is just for me, not anybody else.

If you like shaving, fine; but do not tell me it is hygienic or makes sex better. Neither is true, at least not for me.
+1 Shaving bald is a turn-off for me as well. Now as for untrimmed Sasquatch, that's another story.lol....

Yeh its cleaner, but its still not as clean as I prefer. Plus after doing some reading about all the chemicals etc they put in those things. I am not sure I want to use them anymore. But yes, heaps different.

What I think is funny is that this thread really shows that men never help out with changing diapers if they think girls look the same from 0 to adult.

And I probably did not pick up an infection because my legs do exactly what you are talking about with bumps etc. Exfoliate,Juice Beauty blemish serum, aspirin water, bikini zone, tea tree soap takes care of that. Which yes, only on the outside. I would not put soap up my nose so why would I put it up there? I had a roomate that was a clean freak and she was giving herself yeast infections doing that. She thought it made it better.

I also have a decent immune system and never buy any undies without cotton crotches for regular wear. Pick thigh highs over tights and sleep pantsless. Wear loose clothing the day after any hair removal. You can wax at home too. You don't need to go to a salon. I don't want some stranger doing that to me That would wierd me out. I don't know how people do that. But the only instruments they use are a wooden stick that they toss away after each dip, some cloth, wax, soothing oil and hands. Bacteria does not grow in the wax pots. Its melted wax, heat kills. And if its honey wax or tea tree wax those are both natural anti-bacterials.

I thought it started to show itself around the early 90's due to the piercing and alternative lifestyle surge. I know if I paid to have my stuff pierced I would have that hair gone. Can you imagine the feeling of that snarled snag? That would be even worse than thinking you had you stuff going on popping a pike during a cheer and captian curly makes his debut.

Exactly!!! My daughter (13) was told this by her step sister (15) that you were SUPPOSED to shave, bald or what have u. I was like, uh, if you feel the need to shave for summer bikini season, that's one thing, but, in general..uh NOT.

How about in general "its up to you?"

Ya know, the truth instead of projected values.
