Um...ew.
It's worse than them wearing thongs (I'd like to meet the perv who thought it was a good idea to make thongs for pre-teens).

At that age if they need to wax for a bikini than that bikini is way too small.
I'm 27, so the hormone levels couldn't have changed that much since I was 11. Unless hairiness runs in the family, I don't see a pre-teen girl growing that much hair to need to wax or shave that region in order to wear a bikini. Like I said, if she "needs" to in order to wear her bikini, then that bikini isn't covering up enough skin.

I'm 27 as well and once again, I started shaving at 11 and yes, there was real hair there. And no, I don't come from a hairy family, lol.

As a nurse who has worked in the ER as well as for a group of gynecologists, I can attest to this fact: Not all women grow their pubic hair in a perfect triangle shape directly over their mons pubis. Quite a number of women have hair that grows a good way down the inner thigh which would certainly show while wearing a modestly cut swimsuit or a gymnist outfit. This does not mean their hair growth is necessarily "heavy" at a young age, just *where* it grows presents a problem sometimes.

I remember when I got my first bikini wax (at age 18), the lady told me that she had just done a 13 yr old girl who is very active competitive swimmer or diver (i can't remember which, it was a few years ago). She said that the girl came frequently as she was always self conscious in a bathing suit. She told me this to fear my nerves (it didn't help) but I can understand where the girl is coming from.

In most cases nothing would stick out of a standard suit so maybe keep the little girls out of g-strings.
They shaved it off sweetie, if you didn't have the problem you probably didn't even realize that other girls did that. But they did and still do. Waxing is just the new shaving.

I'm not a fan of the bikini wax and would never get one myself but I keep things trimmed and am not very hairy. My cousins on the other hand.....well I know what they did in the 50's, 60's and probably still do...and it's not a "new" idea.

People just want to think that everyone else is just like them for some crazy reason.

Hate to say it, but at 11, I need to shave. I didn't learn about waxing until one of my GF (thank God) mentioned it to me at the age of 18. I have very sensitive skin, so needless to say shaving was not optimal for me.

Waxing young girls to prevent growing hair, is wrong IMO. Waxing because one needs to... entirely different.

Also thinking about what another poster wrote about competitive swimming. Waxing lasts longer, is easier and cleaner. Also girls who dance, if you watch "So You Think You Can Dance" some of the moves the girls do, they need to be waxed, just sayin'

Yeh...Whats more damaging....a quick wax trip or popping your curlies out during a pep rally in front of the whole school? I don't think I would handle that well at 14 or 44. I also think the "no" type of thinking applies some sort of shame with body and sexuality. Kids overhear things and if they hear a mother running at the mouth about how some girl is a "porn star" because she waxes...well maybe that kid shaves or waxes without saying anything and you just called them a porn star. Good job MOM. Lets apply shame for stuff we don't care for that does not really matter because that is what really right.
