Well, to start off I mean, no point buying something super expensive for your man only to find out that he doesn't want to wear it. Ease him into new clothes (but cheap ones) and then when he's more comfortable with it, get the good stuff

What about those men whose lack of fashion sense is due to extreme frugality? So much so that it affects how they get a haircut?

No sense of style on a man.....Sounds like the men in the town I live in right now!! LOOOOL!

None of them know how to dress. When I was dating, I'd always wore a dress, skirt, nice clean new jeans, or a dressy type of shorts. And my date would pick me up and he look like crap. And I always asked, "Oh, I feel so over dressed. Maybe I should go back in a change real quick?" and they always said, "NO! You look terrific!"

But it's just so odd to be presentable and they aren't. Most men, in this town, only wear jeans that are too big on some, dirty shirts (I don't think they wash or shower much either), and sneakers all the time. UGGGHHH! Most have these long beards that I know for a fact they haven't cleaned in months or had a trim in years!! NASTY, UGGGHH!! And some have hair that is so oily and stringy that I don't like being near them. Those were my bad dates you can say when I moved here.

And there are the cowboy types (this is cowboy town where I live at). ONe time I was on this date with this cowboy. He was all dressed up in his hat, boots, Levi's jeans, and buttoned down shirt. Well, I looked so out of place next to him. It was like looking at a cowboy and his beach girl date (I had a very pretty summer dress on with high heels). We did not look like a match! If I had some cowgirl clothes it would have been better, but that's not my style, NO WAY! But anyway he cheated on me with another girl in the bar and I left anyway. No, cowboys aren't for me.

It's okay if you know what you're doing. I've known a few guys that use clippers at home and do look good. No, I'm talking about somebody who pays a few bucks for a cut a few times a year--absolutely doesn't seem to care what he looks like.

Do you want to risk losing a cute guy with a lot of good qualities over a shirt?
I know many women that have this sort of complaint. I guess their boyfriends are seen as complimenting their overall taste in men.

If it really is "just a shirt" then what's the big deal about wearing it, especially if it makes his lady friend happy?

It really isn't too hard to cut your own hair UNLESS it is long. I've been cutting my own hair since high school. I did go through my long hair phase where I couldn't but any man with less than 3 inches of hair can cut his own hair. Buying clippers, about 20. Getting a haircut, usually 15-25. It pays for itself after 2 uses...can't say that about many times.

My girlfriend kinda gets on my ass about the way I dress. I wear ALOT of western shirts. Well before they became popular. I can't stand short sleve button ups and I HATE polo shirts. I wear a western shirt with some Levi's and either my docs or slipon vans. My gf gets tired of me wearing the same style over and over.

I broke the s.o.'s t-shirt addiction with buying some button down nice feeling dress shirts + comfy undershirts. I just picked up stuff from clearance racks or walmart in the colors of stuff that he already has. I don't even remember the last time he wore a t-shirt only now. He prefers the button down look even just to run to the store. It works with the jeans he likes (dark strait leg, moderate fit). If its hot he just rolls up his sleeves.
