Have a favorite red lipstick? What brand & color? Sheer or opaque?

Kat Von D's Painted Love Lipstick - in "Hellbent" blood red. It's opaque and very smooth.

Chanel Rouge Allure in Dragon. It's such an outrageous red. I only wear it at home because I don't have the guts to go outdoors with it yet.

When I do red, I use a pigmented gloss like MAC lipglass (Cult of Cherry, Warning).

MAC's viva glam (original)

All the proceeds go to AIDS research. Its a warmer red without being orange. If you like blue toned red lipsticks to whiten your teeth it may be too warm for your liking. But it does not yellow my teeth overly so like some warm lipsticks can. (naturally thin enamel and pale skin = ivory teeth) It has a classic red feel to it. Some blue toned reds are a little loud on my face unless I have black hair (MAC russian red can be loud to me)

Its definitely opaque with a classic creamy semi-matte finish. It does not dry my lips out. What I love about it is that its so pigmented that it stains like those 12 hour lipsticks. So you can dab on just a touch and then gloss over it with lipbalm or gloss to have it be more like a sheer stain. The color is strong enough that I would say it is the way it "should" be worn in the day unless you have a very deep skin tone or are doing a full face make-up look. If you wear it as lipstick it does stain so its nice to go out to eat in. You can dab most of it off and not look naked-lipped or get that silly no lipstick in the middle out your lips thing. It does not feather on my skin even without a lip liner. I have been always getting this color since I found it in the 90s. The lipsticks last FOREVER. I can blow through most drugstore lipsticks but this color from MAC does only need touched up on me after eating so it lasts longer. I also have used it as a blush.

I generally don't wear red lipstick, but The Lipstick Queen's Medieval is very popular. It's a sheer red.

MAC's "Russian Red", but I think I will try that Viva Glam (original) next..it looks much softer.

I'm trying a new one right now, Maybelline Candied Apple. It was very inexpensive, and it's a very clear, true red. I think I got my $2 worth!

Another vote for MAC's Viva Glam I...although I sheer it out by wearing it over lipbalm...
