We are looking to set up our cable and internet service in Rogers, AR and I for the package we want At&t/Directv is charging us $52/month for 3 mg DSL and 210 channel cable service. Cox is charging us $130/month for 3 mg cable internet and 130 channel cable service. I can't fathom why there is such a big difference in the prices! We've had AT&T/Directv in the past and had no issues with service going down, but I hate that it's a 2 year contract and anytime you change anything in your contract it starts your 2 years over again. So, I am a little leary of doing the dish route given that I've heard the weather can get nasty in NWA. So, my question is, does anyone in NWA have Directv service and do you have a lot of issues with them? Any comments on Directv or Cox would be appreciated. TIA!

I'm a former DirectTV customer in NWA. I have no plans to ever be a DirectTV customer ever again...3 different installers before finally installing satellites correctly, poor reception during ice, snow, & heavy rain; incorrect charges, promise to give me a gift card which I never received, continued emails after I canceled my service and requested my email address be taken off their list.

So I made a HDTV antenna and now pick up 9 channels for $0.00 per month and no contract

I currently use DirectTV, and I haven't had any problems. The installation was fine, and while I've lost reception during storms a couple of times, I would also lose reception with the cable during storms, too. Not all cable is underground in Northwest Arkansas, so ice, snow & heavy rain bring cable down, too, and while Cox was generally prompt about restoring service, it sometimes took days. DirectTV is the better deal financially, for me, anyway. But I don't live in Rogers, so it may be different for people in town.

our experience has been pretty good with a dish. Yes, the weather can affect it, but usually it is just some snow or ice buildup which you can dust off with a broom or something. I will tell you we switched from Direct TV to Dish because Direct kept raising the prices almost monthly it seemed. Yes, the contract thing can be a pain.
I am not a huge supporter of COX, that is just me, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them.

Direct TV works just fine in Alaska....and I am sure our weather is much worse, although we don't get the ice storms like NWA. I have a bone to pick with Cox though, they don't value their long-standing employees very well. (I am not one of them)
