I have a niece who missed the cut-off by one day. The district is very firm about NO exceptions.

That said, the administration officials are very helpful about providing information about various programs. While officially they won't give any pre-school recommendations, they can give you some input into pre-schools they are familiar with.

We have a friend, or actually one of my daughters friends, whose daughter also missed by 1 day, in Texas. That was years ago, she was exceptionally bright, but really not terribly emotionally advanced cause her parents were divorced. Long story,short, she waited, even though her mom almost put her into private school so she could start early. Well, that was 20 plus years ago, she is now a graduate of OU and working on her masters. Being the oldest one in her class didn't make any difference. On the other hand our daughter, was skipped an entire grade even though she was young to being with. She entered college just before her 17th BD, it also didn't really have much impact on her. We parents are more bothered about our kids and their placement than they are. I don' think the OP needs to be concerned.

bTW, were you able to get the twins in PreK or kindargarten, I think a few of us wondered how it worked out for you?
