Which is a good thing. Who would want another New York in northwest Arkansas? It's crowded enough as it is.

While Bentonville and Fayetteville are both predominately white, maybe 80 percent, thats not factoring in the University population, they still accent diversity through the University of Arkansas and the areas cities. They have festivals with diversity in mind. Earth day and other community activities. It's a growing area, but of course not a large urban area like you might be used to. Have you ever been to the area before? I would encourage you to visit before moving.

We have been having a lot of customers from London, England in the past two weeks in our shop in Bentonville. Walmart has 1600 vendors located in Bentonville such as Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, etc. It's a great place to own a business and the new museum built by Alice Walton has propelled us forward with the hospitality and restaurant industry. We get a lot of great business from all sorts of different cultures and from every part of the country every day. It's great to have such diversity and to be able to welcome so many different people groups to our area. We are very thankful for Walmart and Sam's Club and for the Waltons, and all they are contributing to our economy. It's amazing how the City of Bentonville and the Bentonville, Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce are doing so much for the city. I would love to see a larger library in Bentonville, that could be comprable to the great new library recently built in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I have a feeling that it won't be long before we have as great a library as Fayetteville. I am excited about Bentonville also being chosen to have another Walton Arts Center to be built here soon. Believe me, we have a wonderful, eclectic mix of folks from many different cultures and many different parts of the world and the US coming here. They are wonderful, intelligent and good people. They love it here. Many have lived up north when they first got to the United States but they love this area more. I hear that all the time and it's not just because of the milder weather. It has to do with our culture, the beauty of the area, and the many opportunities in this setting of Northwest Arkansas. Bentonville Highschool was one of only 2 blue ribbon schools chosen in the whole state of Arkansas about 3 years back and we have some great private schools as well in this whole area of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville. (Most of the people who move away from here end up coming back at some point. I was one of them and I have met many others who "came back" after they tried to move away. It's the best place to live and to raise your children and to meet many different people groups, and to also build a successful business if you choose.

I don't think the OP asked about black/white but about overall diversity, which takes in so many aspects of our lives. Of course NWA isn't NYC or Los Angeles, no one living here would particular want that, but it certainly is very diverse. U are correct about all the special celebrations to highlight just how diverse the area really is. OP, if you want a slightly rural setting but not a mindset of a bunch of no room for open thinking you will be happy here. NWA is what you make of it..
