Default Things to do in NWA

Will be visiting NWA to scope it out in a few weeks. What are some activities we can do with our 3 year old and 8 month old while there?

I would take time to visit Crystal Bridges for starters. You might not want to spend a lot of time, but certainly you will want to see it. I don't know about the kids but you might also enjoy the Walton museum right down of the square. The spring blooms will be really lovely in a few weeks so just a drive around will be nice. Too bad the water park won't be open yet. That is something your 3 year old would love, I am sure.

There is also a safari drive with lots of animals in Gentry which would be a fun thing for the little ones, or at least the 3 year old. Others with kids will come on here and give you more ideas I am sure.

I would second the Crystal Bridges. My kids love the kids area and just walking/running on the trails. Great locations around there for a picnic. The Walton Museum serves drinks/ice-cream/snacks; great spot afterwards for the kids. After that you have the UofA which is nice to walk around and look at the nice buildings. There is the Jones Center in Springdale. It has ice-skating, swimming, basketball... Dickson st. or Downtown Fay is a nice place to stop for lunch or dinner.

I'm drawing a blank after that. Giving up caffeine for lent is proving to be more difficult than I originally would have though.

Wilson Park is a really cool area for kids. We always end up in the creek.

Thank you. Crystal Bridges looked neat, but I wondered if it would be too "stuffy" for my 3 year old. But I didn't realize there was a kids area.

The kids area is small but cute. My kids love being there. I would try to let them run around on the trails first though. Last season I was trail running around the grounds and I kept seeing kids with there parents running around like they were crazy. Come to find out they had a scavenger hunt for kids. I also noticed one couple had a helmet/hat for their kid. Looked a little odd but thought it was a great idea and the kid didn't even seem to notice (she was about 8). I stopped in with my kids one morning while my wife was sleeping in and they had one going. Call ahead and find out when they will do the next one.

I would think Crystal Bridges would be sort of like a magical place to a 3 year old. The architecture of the buildings is just fantastical. And there are lots of trails for kids to run their little legs on. I think there is a stream running through the nature trails, and kids love streams. My kids would have loved it when they were small, I think.
