It looks like the WF shopping center will be discussed in the April 14th Planning Commission meeting tonight. The only thing being discussed is a cross-access agreement with an adjoining property (which appears to be owned by the same car dealership that owns the WF tract).

A new traffic signal at College & Masonic and the cross-access driveway to the adjacent parcel were approved for the "grocery-anchored shopping center" by the planning commission last night.

Also, if you can find the development guy for new WF stores on twitter, you'll notice that he tweeted photos of a new store in Georgia or somewhere last night, and his GPS location given was "Fayetteville, AR", where this meeting happened.

They're coming.

The city council is deciding whether the city will foot the bill for the new stoplight required for the Whole Foods shopping center. Normally Fayetteville would require the developer to provide this infrastructure.

The Fayetteville City Council approved a measure that says the city will pay for a new stop light in front of the Whole Foods shopping center:

The only thing that will stop WF from being in that location is the city somehow not approving the plans. It is zoned C-2 so that isn't likely. A grocery store and retail would both be uses by right.

Whole Foods is coming.
Whole Foods is planning on reaching 1000 stores in the next decade and I think they're at 300something, so yes, they're definitely looking to get into smaller cities away from the coasts. In my neck of the woods they're opening 3 small town stores in Northern Arizona by the end of the year, places much smaller than Fayetteville.

And now Whole Foods has confirmed their plans for Fayetteville, so now my headline is accurate: Whole Foods confirms plans for Fayetteville store | Fayetteville Flyer
