I'm really interested in retiring in the Bentonville area, but I'm concerned about the health care in Arkansas. I'm heard that doctors don't like patients on Medicare and people have a hard time finding a doctor who will accept Medicare. What has the experience been for anyone who is retired in this area and what do you think of the hospitals and doctors in this area?

Bella Vista just north of Bentonville is the best place for retirement in my book. My parents live there and tons of stuff to do with most people there in retirement. Now, my dad has a disease and has doctors in Rogers, Bentonville which is like 15 minutes to 30 minutes max to every doctor. His doctors are great and I am pleased with his hospital. My daughter an RN in Oklahoma City thinks the care is great too when she visits. I don't know where you from but the area seems great to me.

By the way my parents moved from California to where I am and died with lack of everything (cattle country) so we found them Bella Vista and it is great plus I think the costs is low.

Ama, we live in Bella Vista, the town directly north of Bentonville; ;we have lived here 8 plus years, are retired and can't think of anywhere we would rather live, being retired. Before moving here we lived in 4 other states including Calif.

Medical care has not been a problem for us. My husband developed cancer after moving here. If it hadn't been for the great doctors he would not be with me today. There absolutely is no problem finding doctors who take Medicare patients. I think, once I heard someone say their doctor no longer accepts Medicare. We have both primary care doctors and specialist, all within 30 minute drive, as well as 3 good to outstanding hospitals. One is in Bentonville, one in Rogers and one in Springdale. Our granddaughter is a nurse practitioner in Bentonville. They deal with Medicare patients all the time.

I am not quite sure where you information came from, but basically it is untrue.

Thank you very much for the information. I'm glad to hear it. My information came from different web sites on the Internet and I was coming across contridictionary information and it was hard to tell what it was based on. None of the information was from people who lived in the area. I'll seriously check out NWA. It's a beautiful area.

Check out Bella Vista first. Honestly, Rogers, Bentonville is so close to Bella Vista but Bella Vista has the lakes and very nice homes at a cheaper price than Bentonville will. You can't use the lakes/activities without having a lot or home in Bella Vista. My Mom goes to church in Rogers and those that live in that town usually buy a lot in Bella Vista to use their golf courses, etc. It is much prettier than Rogers/Bentonville too. Close to everything.
