My wife has auto immune disorders and requires an internal medicine Dr and Arthritis expert who keeps abreast of the latest Rh meds. Our current Internist and Rh specialist are capable of handling her non typical reaction to meds and her non topical symptoms. They do not blame the patient when something comes up there are not certain about and they welcome the challenge of finding answers and exploring off the path answers. I thought a couple who are both MDs recently moved to NWA had given me a DM recommending another MD they know in NWA. I can not find that DM now nor do I see a response on the topic to me.

Can anyone recommend MDs like I seek? I am prepared to drive to DFW to see her current two MDs if I must but would welcome a local MD who can care for her when we move. Her current Internatist is a concierge doctor who charges a couple of thousand a year which insurance wont cover but it gives you direct access to him via his cell phone and lightens his patient load so he can see you the same day you call in with an unexpected issue arise. It is well worth this to us given her complicated issues.

Any such MDs in NWA in the areas we need help for her?

Google up functional medicine Doctors, MOST MD's will just want to prescribe meds, but the functional/restorative ones won't unless they really think they have to. Do you say MD meaning Doctor in general or do you not want a DO? Most DO's are more or less trained as functional medicine Doctors right out of school but an actual func medicine doc will always state that. Many AI issues can be fixed with diets and natural treatments which It looks like your aware of and going for I wish I had a name for you docs that'll treat issues vs hide them with medications are hard to find these days.

We have chased all options and the meds are the only thing that work for her situation. She is a medical professional and limits meds to the minimum she needs to have a quality life.

We had no success with diets for her immune system issues despite pursuing them with several different practitioners including acupuncture with a former neighbor who is a Japanese MD trained in Toronto. He saw acupuncture address issues traditional meds did not and we tried it on her to no avail.

So I am looking for an MD. Thanks for your comments and thoughts.

Thanks, I do not know why I can not access that DM you sent me, bound to be something I am doing. Are you enjoying NWA?

My wife takes Actimra ( spelling?) by infusion now and is responding very well. We only see her Rh MD two or three times a year so we could come back here to see him assuming her monthly infusion can be done in NWA as I feel sure it can.

A great Internist is another larger matter. We see the one here in Dallas between 8 to 12 times a year. He calls my wife his favorite patient because she is a challenging case with her unusual symtoms of her various auto immune diseases and in how she can respond to meds. He is up to the challenges and can deal with the uncertainty of not being sure what is going on without frustration or putting it back on the patient as some in our past experience have done. He is a concierge doctor so has the time to spend with her. My plans are to find out if there are other such Internists in NW Arkansas? Are you aware of any concierge Internal Medicine MDs there?

I am glad to hear that your wife is responding well to Actemra, as a spouse of someone with an autoimmune disorder, it can be frustrating to watch them suffer. I am positive her infusion could be done with Dr. Saitta. My husband gets infusions monthly of a different drug in his office.

As far as internists, I would highly recommend James Norys with MANA. We were recommended to see him by another physician, and I know several physicians who see him. We both really liked him and my husband is a tough customer. As far as concierge physicians, Dr. Furlow is one who has been mentioned. Another would be the three physicians with Direct Care Clinic of Northwest Arkansas. I do not have any knowledge of either of these recommendations other than hearing about them as available services.

Thanks for all your help. I am convinced NWA can meet our medical goals. Thanks for sharing and your ideas for her needs as well as nice wishes for her.

I was tangled up in taxes a few weeks. With 2016 data freshly available I have tackled determining the state income tax for Oklahoma and Arkansas. My current assessment is the combination of state income tax and lower property tax in both Ok and Ar is higher than my Texas property taxes. I am using a home price same as my current home for comparision purposes. I may be abe to find what we need for less in Ar and am considering building as well.

We would like a 4500 sf home with three dedicated bedrooms and some swing space in a large Study which could act as a 4th bedroom when needed. I want a one story, we are too old to climb stairs. I prefer large, high end finished rooms with 10 to 20 feet ceilings. I havent seen something to hit this mark so far on the market. I would provide for space under a high roof to finish out a second floor for future owners if needed to add a bedroom with bath, a gameroom etc. I am assuming an available attractive lot too. I want a low maintenance option and will entertain material options and techniques to make that most likely.

As a result of the tax assessment, I am planning a 2017 trip to AR to visit with a builder on my thoughts conceptually and to get a ball park price range. Then am off to Knoxville for a few days to scope it out with my wife.
